what's so awful. just laugh it off. unless the guy is creepy weird he's probably just being stupid and doesn't expect a response anyway.

Yeh, as a matter of fact I have. On more than one occasion.
I even followed a few up. But,...
I'm a guy and I felt flattered each time.
I think how your asked and who asks makes all the difference.
I guess that's kinda what they mean by a double standard.
I'm going to venture a guess and say your probably pretty young and it was the first time something like happened to you.
If you, like me and so many of my friends, and others, start out hanging out with friends, in bars, get used to it.
Bars draw a lot of *******, especially when they're drinking.
Of course be careful. But try not to let it actually scare you. Usually people that ask or do stupid things aren't dangerous, just stupid.

Yes, someone I spent half an hour talking to at an art opening later sent me an email expecting me to take a drive to his hotel room for a bootie call. Now, we had fun talking and I liked the guy, but having sex with a stranger? I don't think so. And really, why would anyone want to have sex with the person willing to drive to a hotel room after 11:00 p.m. at night to have sex with a stranger? Ew, Ew, Ew all the way around.

What? Is that like you close your eyes, and point, and whoever you are pointing at, has to ask? I've had a Complete Stranger ask me for sex. I told him If he could Jet me over to Cabo for Breakfast, Brazil for Lunch, Paris for Dinner, Milan for dessert, and THEN Back to My favorite deli, here in town, for coffee, I'd Kiss him on the Cheek when He walked me to my door after... He left pretty quick. Somehow, I don't think HE thought, that I was serious!

Yes, it is scary. I was in New York, in transit, as a teenager,and had a creep stalk me until he finally approached me in a book store, propositioning me for homosexual sex. I chased him away, nervously told the clerk behind the counter, and he simply asked if I wanted to buy any under-the-counter porn. Oh, boy!
