I don't think any 'lines' have ever worked on me. Or very many ladies for that matter. Pick up lines are just tired and cheesy most of the time. I think the best way to strike up a conversation is a very direct "Hi, how are you?" or something that applies to that one person. If it's in person, possibly something they're wearing or maybe you over hear conversation. Customize your opening line to the girl you're trying to get to know. If it's online, you will often times have an entire profile to read over to think up an interesting opening line.

I never heard the term opening lines used. Just lines. anyway no line has worked. I prefer a man that doesn't use lines and just says what he feels.

Dude i dont know how old you are but lines dont work on women, going up and being yourself works better then any line. Going up and saying hi will do the trick.

Just be honest. If she has a nice smile, say, "you have a really nice smile." If she has a nice butt, however, say, "you're a really nice looking woman." Telling her that she has a nice butt probably won't get you where you want it to...
