Lexapro. I love my Lexapro. When I was on vacation, I forgot to take it for a couple of days and the panic and anxiety attacks started again. On it, once they got my dose right, I have had few anxiety attacks and only one or two panic attacks. Those that I have had were not as severe as the ones I had when I was not on Lexapro.

It depends entirley on your unique brain chemistry. The drug companies want you to beleive that their particular drug can hit a certian issue, such as social phobia, panic, even smoking cessation. Both are , (wellburtin and Lexapro), Anti-depressants.
Some of the Anti-depressants work on the Dopamine receptors and some work on the Serotonin or both. In a way it's a crap shoot. You don't really know until you try them. They all have some side-effects, some more than others. One persons "Godsend "is anothers "poison". You have to be willing to take a "caculated" risk. By all means, be intelligent and research and ask questions, but just know that by asking a question such as which works better, well, not really a fair question. Also expect 2 weeks to a month to get the therapeutic effects, and only then can you deceide if its gonna work for you, assuming the side effects are not bad. I don't mean to sound so negative, I am just a realist. I do beleive in the right medication. I currently take Cymbalta, which seems to work okay. A good medication will not take away your problems and numb you out(although I sometimes wish it would). A good medication will allow you the clear-headeness and focus to deal with the problems that used to make you panic like a deer in the headlights. Good luck and I hope I have helped you. Lexapro by far... I've done both and I can say that in my experience Wellbutrin did nothing more than make me shakey. Take care with SSRI's and side effects, though. I'm trying to wein myself off Zoloft now.... it's a complete pain in the ***..

Wellbutrin CR is good, it does not have the weight gain that I found in Lexapro

At first I was prescribed Zoloft for anxiety problems (and depression that was cured without meds, but is still there sometimes) I HATED ZOLOFT. It made me gain weight, and did not solve my anxiety issues, in fact it made it worse. And it also made my depression more apparent then it was. I felt "plain" and just empty for lack of a better word. I got off of it asap, and another doctor gave me a months sample of Lexapro. It kind of, "muted" my anxiety but Im not too impressed with it. My anxiety is still there but I focus on it less. I still get panic attacks. Lexapro also makes you gain weight, Im not happy with it. Im going to try something different, hopefully you will have better luck with the meds then I have

Lexapro, I've never felt better, more even or balanced. sometimes I almost miss feeling sad because that was my most common feeling... but I have no mood swings and no sadness and just a smooth even feeling all the time.

I'm diggin Wellbutrin. I'm only on 150mg and my social anxiety is pretty much gone. It's helping me quit smoking too. It also curbs my appetite. (Doc says is suppresses compulsions that's why they perscribe it for smoking cessation)
