6 months is only a long relatinship in highschool. After that, a long relationship is over a year. I don't think you ever really get to know a person. I've been going out with my bf for almost 2 yrs, and he still surprises and occasionally shocks me. As someone once said (i forget who) "Automatically assuming you know the intimate workings of anyone's life is always a mistake. There are always things you aren't going to know, even if you watch their every waking moments... you can't see the dreams."

Forever......because no matter how long you date a person, you NEVER 'really' know them.
Six months is but a blip in time.....the new hasn't even worn off yet.
So no, 6 months is not what one would consider a 'long' relationship.

You could date someone for years and not know them. After you get married you still learn things that you didn't know about the person you had dated. So this question can't be anwsered.

depends on the person and the relationship
Ive had relationships go nowhere for 6 months and end about that time; on the other hand, I proposed to my wife on our 6-month anniversary

No, I don't think you can ever really know someone completely, especially after only 6 months. It usually takes several years to really get to know and understand your partner.

I agree with the 1 yr. principal...at least. Even after that you have some learning to do.

you have to LIVE in the same house with them, if you really want to get to know them, and even then, you still only know what they LET you know.
There's always 2 things you know about a person:
- what you know
- what you don't know
