I know exactly what you are talking about, and agree with you. Except I just wanted to add that Mexicans ARE natives. We were here before the US "took" the land as Mexican citizens, and we were here before the Spanish came and nearly wiped us out as natives.........No there were no boarders, and yes we did fight as tribes with each other, but it was still OUR land. All of us natives would have been better off if the western world had never discovered us. But they did, and most of our native tribes have all but been wiped out. Some of us are merely clinging on to fractions of our true culture and traditions, and yet racist still are not satisfied. This topic is less about illegal aliens, and more about legal Mexicans, wither we crossed over legally, or the border crossed us.
And to illegalsblow, you are right we still call ourselves Mexican instead of American.....can you blame us, It's people like you that have reminded me all my life that I'm not American, I'm just Mexican.....I remember being in the 4th grade filling out a simple quiz. when asked about nationality, I chose American, only to have my very own teacher come up to me later and tell me that I made a mistake and that I had to put Mexican. As a Mexican American you have no idea the racism I had to, and still do endure, just for being an AMERICAN!. Yet I still am proud of both being an American, and of my ancestry..........So yes I will display the Mexican flag proudly, not as a symble of some corrupt government, but as a simple of my people, Just as I do the American flag, not as a symble of this government, but as a simple of our freedom and of those who have fought for that freedom. Think of me as you wish, but like it or not, I am an American!, and I have the right to express myself as I wish. So I will proudly display my 2 flags, and I will listen to Mexican music while eating apple pie!, Why?, because I can!!..... and if you don't like that, well I only have one thing to say......."This is America baby, land of the free, love it OR LEAVE IT!!"

My family did come here legally from Spain-we still live on the same Spanish land grant. We lived here before there was an America, before there was a Mexico, and there were no laws at the time-the Indians were at war with each other- so there is no way we were illegal immigrants when there was not a united nation with any laws. My great-grandfather was a Navajo translator so there were always Indians at the house partying, trading, eating with them. Everyone got along.
My family has lived here for hundreds of years, but even if I came yesterday I would still feel that people should go through the legal channels.
Illegal immigrants are of all races, and I don't know why people assume they are all Mexican. Even mi gente talk about illegals they assume everyone means Mexicans. It drives me crazy.

You attempt to make a stance about ignorance and labeling a group of people without proper knowledge but then make the same mistake in your second sentence. I personally have nothing against anyone who comes here and does an honest days work. But how many of those immigrants would be able to continue living here if they paid taxes and auto insurance and health care insurance? My personal opinion is that it would be less than half. Our cost of living is affected both good and bad by improperly immigrating non-citizens. That is the problem that truly needs to be fixed. Having workers who are not asked to pay their way for the benefits that this country offers is hurting our economy and the health care and insurance industries are laughing all the way to the bank.

Actually, for you to believe that all illegals are Mexican is rather foolish. I knew an illegal that was Russian. I am not sure what happen to him because that was about 3 years ago. I do not agree with illegal immigration because my wife is Peruvian and we have been through the immigration process. WE both feel that everyone who comes here should go through the same process. She does not understand why it is fair for others to be here illegally while she had to go through the whole process just to get her green card. So, do not be putting people like me into the same category just because I do not agree with illegal immigration. I am not a racist.

Trouble with these people is someone a long time ago actually told them they were the Greatest Most Powerful Nation on Earth. Some of these folks actually believe that to be true.Fact is they are probably the Most Powerful, but The Greatest has long gone and they started to realize that they are not well liked in the Global community mostly because of they're 'Use Em and Lose Em" policies.I believe that uneducated Americans gather here on Yahoo answers and excrete racial slurs like Diarrhea because their feelings are hurt and they haven't the intelligence to deal with their aggression in a positive way.

I think because most Mexicans (legal or not) are really not proud to be Americans - they call themselves Mexican, not American. Alot of Mexicans (legal or not) do not speak English and do not even try to learn the language.
So, yes, I guess call me racist. All I know is when the Mexicans took over my neighborhood, the value of the homes in the area declined. I feel they don't contribute anything to society. Sure they take good care of my lawn, but that's all I can think of.

you are so confused ... you said legal Mexicans ... if you are refering to legal immigrants from Mexico then you are verry confused. There are no legal Mexicans in America( other then green card or visa), because Mexico and America are 2 seperate countries. When you say we insault their flag, if they are legal Americans is not the American flag their flag ? Is not the Mexican flag a symbol of what they had to escape from ? Their traditions ....I have no idea what you are talking about their....
The point is, you have no idea what you are talking about, it appears to me, you consider any one that is of Hispanic descent a mexican, and to tell you the truth that statement upsets alot of people that were born in America, that originated from Hispanic descent...
They get most of the negitive feedback because they are the biggest part of the problem.

Many Anglos are completely blind to the variety of Hispanic peoples. because particular factors of the U. S. have a Hispanic inhabitants this is in maximum cases from one united states of america or yet another, Anglos basically leap to the tip which you're from that place. in addition to, maximum Anglos do no longer understand that many Hispanics have a solid experience of national satisfaction concerning their united states of america of foundation. Hispanics at the instant are not the only team that studies this, nevertheless. After 9/11, many non-Arab immigrants experienced hostility because of the fact the locals assumed they have been Arab. some babies of West Indian or African immigrants resent being lumped including American blacks. To right this moment, many Anglos quickly assume an Asian individual is eastern. attempt to undergo in strategies that human beings at the instant are not unavoidably attempting to be insulting.

A lot of people find it easier to use generalisations.
Sometimes they are effective in debate, so long as you state that you are generalising. But I've noticed that it's a common practice for many on here to toss out blanket statements as if they encompass every person within that group, which in my mind just shows, as you said, ignorance. Whether it's borne of frustration, anger or insecurties it doesn't matter, when you generalise about a certain population (majority or minority) it's ignorance, plain and simple.

I mainly see what seems to be a majority of white people when it comes to race that are saying the cruel things on here. It's ironic that they stole this land from the Native American's who happen to be my ancestors and stole African's to make work the land whom happen to be my acestors.
