I do date a guy who is depressed and we're in our 50's. Depending on what his depression is from you could be very helpful for him. You could be the best thing that has ever come into his life and just what he needs to help him out of his depression. Good luck to both of you.....

Yes I would... depression doesn't sum up the total of a persons character and we are all proned to it every once in a while... so yeah I would date a guy who is depressed an hopefully I can help him out of his depression.

Yes, but don't think that will be the end of his depression. He still needs treatment. You just have to be understanding and patient if he doesn't feel like doing something or is having a bad day as long as he explains to you, so you know it's not you. And you have to treat him the same as you would everybody else, he doesn't want to be constantly reminded.

Yes, if he was depressed for a good reason. Death of family member, pet, lost his job. Things that are temporary.

If he suffered from CHRONIC depression, no.
They need to be treated by a psychiatrist for that and he would not be able to carry on a healthy relationship with ANYONE, in that condition.

no i would not because his depression brings you down and then you become all depressed there is no fun in a depressing relationship! you think that you can fix him and bring him out of it the truth is he has to want to help himself, once he does that and gets out of his depression then feel free to date him to keep him on track

Ok look at it this way; If you wanted to buy a truck and you found two of them exactly alike except one was empty and the other was full of garbage, which one would you want?

One of my friends did and at the end, she felt like it was her responsability to get him out. He was taking over her life and she felt completely responsible, at the end she was only dating him because she felt sorry for him, and that is the last thing you want to do, DONT DATE SOMEONE BECAUSE YOU FEEL SORRY FOR THEM.

Someone that isn't happy with themselves will very rarly be happy with someone else.

Self happiness and self respect is something i look for in a partner.
