Our memories are not confined to our physical brains any more than radio signals are confined to tubes and transistors in a radio receiver. When a transistor in a receiver goes bad that does not mean the transmitter is defective.
A person in Hell (this world) will not remember a prior existence here (not for long anyway) because this is the land of forgetfulness. Heck, we can't even remember a lot of things that happened last month (or yesterday).
If, and when, a person escapes this world and is resurrected to "Heaven," the Land of the Living, he will not be forgetful, but will have perfect memory.

If you look at the memory and "the soul"--personality-- as being 100% scientific and grounded in the physical, then you don't believe in life after death/Heaven & Hell so the question is moot.
If you believe that the spirit carries on, then yes, the memories can return. Metaphysically there's a reason why these people have a need to erase themselves while still alive. My dad had a horrific childhood of abuse, for instance. It seems like the soul is pulling free of the body without death intervening.
It makes no sense to say the soul has to shed all memory at the moment of death. If the soul has no memory then why punish it by sending it to hell? The soul doesn't keep 100% of the memories of each lifetime--just the most important things, the lessons learned, the energy patterns of love and those we loved and who loved us.

Yes, all people are resurrected with a perfect body of flesh and bones. This is a center promise of Christ.
Memory, however, transends the physical.
Think of it like this analogy: If a person lived in a world of darkness and the only time they could see light was when it was in fiber obtics. This person might conclude that without fiber optics, there could be no light. What an incredible revelation or vision it would be for that individual if the lights where turned on. Perhaps memory is like this. Truth and wisdom is a form of light. The light of Christ.

In heaven all of our flaws are no more, human body included.
They only thing left is the conciousness.
Therefore, if that person was concious at any time in their life (say 1-55yrs) they will be in Heaven in their perfect state of conciousness. So they would have their memory, as the past is part of what makes up someone's state of conciousness.
or so I think, anyway.
As for Hell, I don't think it exists. I think our souls are kept somewhere until the end times and then the ones not going to Heaven are thrown into a lake of fire. You don't go somewhere horrible FOREVER... you just don't exist. That's it.

Not in that sense. You have to understand that heaven is not like this world. Heaven is not a physical place like you might think. It is spiritual, your spirit is there. Your body might have diseases like blindness, Alzheimers or cancer, but your spirit is immune. It can not be hurt or damaged. It is there, it is YOU. So when you are in heaven, you get your memory back but not in the way, that you remember what score you got on your University Exam. I believe Heaven is amazingly magical. It was said that "Imagine the worlds biggest Ocean. When you dip your finger into the water, the water thats on your finger is the all good that you can possibly have on earth. Heaven is the Ocean. :)

A very interesting question.
The bible says we will be changed. We will have incorruptible forms. It also says all tears will be wiped away from the eyes of believers who reach heaven. As for those who go to hell, they will be tormented. What torments us more than memories of regret? So I have to say, yes we will not only have memories restored, but those who reach heaven will rejoice in being freed from the cares of this world while basking in the everlasting presence of God, while those who go to hell will be tormented with regret (and hell fire) at not deciding to follow the Lord.

In Heaven we will have new, perfect bodies. The brain is part of that body. But, since all shall be peaceful in Heaven, I'm sure there will not be sad memories. These new brains may be clean slates in order for us not suffer any emotional pain.

Absolutely!! Psychics have validated that.
The memory stays with the soul. However, if the brain is ill, the memory doesn't go away, you just can't tap into it right now. Once you shed the physical body, the memory doesn't have anything holding it back -- like an ill brain.

Presumably people with Alzheimer's will.
I see your point about shedding the physical, but perhaps our brains are only the physical point of our thoughts.
Surely we'll take something from this life with us, or judgement will be pointless and the suffering of this world will be for naught.

IMAGINE KNOWING EVERYTHING ABOUT WHAT EVERYONE IS DOING AND THINKING AND NOT JUST PEOPLE BUT ANIMALS AND NOT JUST HERE BUT EVERYWHERE AND NOT JUST NOW BUT FOR ALL TIME , THATS WHAT ITS LIKE FOR THE SOUL , ITS NOT LIMITED BY A BODY OR A BRAIN , THE SOUL CAN DO THINGS THAT THE MIND DOESNT EVEN HAVE THE CAPACITY TO DREAM
