That people can bash Christians and those with faith as intolerant and hateful but do not hold themselves to the same guidelines?

just a side note, I have posted questions that may have come off as bashing and for that I appoligize , however when I feel passionatly for something I ask about it.

to shaz, what i meant was that if I come of bashing I do not mean to because that is not what a christian should do. I am responsible for my own behavior. I am passionate about what i believe so i can come off as bashing and I shouldn't. for that I appoligize,

You have to understand what it feels like from an atheist or agnostic point of view. Imagine if the majority of people on this site were Muslims, and they were all running around telling you that you're going to burn in the Islam version of "hell" if you don't believe in the Quran. You'd probably be pretty impatient with them, too. When a nonreligious person sees a question saying, "HEY ATHEISTS!!! Did you accept JESUS CHRIST yet?! If not, then the ETERNAL LAKE OF FIRE is waiting for you!!" (and that's not even much of an exaggeration, in most cases), he or she is going to get angry. How can you blame them?

i've asked the same question in more indirect words and have gotten the hate mail and everything ( though some of my questions were quite strong in format). I have come to the conclusion that those that bash, they truly don't want to believe, they don't won't Christians to believe, they want proof in black and white or something tangible to prove that God does exist,( so they continually go round and round trying desperately to prove he doesn't exsist, but to no avail), so they are tormented. they just want to live with out regard of any guidelines and just do whatever their flesh say's feels good, they don't want to have to answer for anything wrong they have done ect.., they believe they know everything about the Bible and how a Christians should act or respond and they are constantly telling Christians to stop be judgemental or that's not what the Bible say's a Christian should do, they continue to take scripture out of context. they will say well if you believe in the Bible then you should follow what it say's( but they don't believe in the Bible or God who inspired it), so they are a bunch of confused people running around, making up their own beliefs and some their own gods.

Because 1)it is generally true about christians and 2)JUST like christians people are blind to their own faults..just like you..you say they "come off as bashing" but that "You feel passionate" so why is it ok for you but not others? Double standerd? and there is no way they WERE bashing? Kinda putting a little spin the apology aren't we?

Theists and atheists are both people, and people are blind and generally stupid creatures who attack anything

Because it's easy to make fun of others, and hold them to different standards than yourself.

For example, a well off and rich person will say that a poor person is poor because they're lazy, incompetent, and doesn't want to work hard to be a success like they are. But then they totally ignore the fact that the money they got was given to them by their parents, or they were given stuff instead of having to work hard for it. And they may not realize that although the poor person may have made some bad choices, maybe they're poor cause of stuff beyond their control (like getting laid off at a job they worked at).

The same thing could be said of religion as well. Jesus pointed this out a few times, such as criticizing a person for the speck of wood in their eye, when they can't see the plank in their own eye, meaning that they're willing to point out other people's faults, but fail to see their own.

This is also where that "Judge not, lest ye be judged" thing comes in as well. No one is perfect, and the arrogant people will probably make fun of people who fail or have shortcomings (my mom taught me not to make fun of others, cause that stuff could happen to me as well), and the Bible also says that too (I forget which verse/chapter, but something like if you laugh at someone's shortcomings, then God will do something like that to you as well).

I guess the ones that have a "holier than thou" attitude (aka they think they're somehow better than you) are the ones that you have to watch out for, be they Christian, Muslim, Jew, Hindu, or any other religion (or atheists even). The sincere ones who really take to heart the teachings will often have actions that speak louder than words (such as someone who helps the poor and feeds the homeless without judging them or saying that they're stupid and it's their fault for being where they are now and all).

Jesus says that if you start judging people, then you're going to be judged according to the standards you used on them, so it's better not to judge people at all.

The true believer should know that we war not with flesh and blood but with spirtual wickedness in high places among other things. When the Messiah was in the midst of being crucified he said "Forgive them Father for they know not what they do" they were servants to higher powers those powers were evil and without the Father them nor any one else can overcome such powers. Its deep and it gets deeper.

That seems to be a common theme throughout many organized religions: Hypocrisy. Many people will say they believe one way, and yet behave in a contrary manner.

Most fundamentalists (of several different religions) will preach about loving their fellow man, and then persecute or kill anyone who doesn't follow their beliefs.

You're right, I was surprised to see how many Atheists on this site get their kicks off insulting Christianity. Not only that, I saw one guy who said he was only here to "unconvert" people. Some people just like being right so much, they take it to a point were they will get angry and upset over it.

I don't know what religion you are, but I heard somewhere, if you're Christian, that those who say they are angry or mad at Christ have to believe in Him, because how can you be mad at someone who doesn't exist. My wording wasn't too great, and I'm sorry if I am completely bashing your religion.

MAny religions are intolerant of others. Christians (the ones who really believe) ary pretty disrespectful of my beliefs. Not that you are, but many are. Most Athiests could care less what you believe as long as that faith is not pushed onto us, although I am sorry to say it is.

The same reason Christan's can slander, lie, and insult non-Christians without holding themselves to their proclaimed beliefs.
