Well, it IS a longtime responsibility - 10 years or more. And it is a LIFE you'll be responsible for. So, if you think you are ready, why don't you volunteer at your local shelter to show how dedicated you are? They (parents) are right, unless you can PROVE you are ready, then they have taken a dog into the home only to have is cast back out - that's not really fair to FIFI is it? A dog is a lifetime commitment, and I'm sure you're ready for walking it at 3 AM and feeding it twice a day. Making sure she has fresh water all the time. Playing with her, taking her for walks, teaching her to sit and how to behave. And how ready are you to pick up POOP? From the floor, the sidewalk, the yard?It is almost as much responsibility as a child, but few people take that into consideration. And if you are REALLY ready, for GOD"S sake, DON"T buy from a petstore! Can you say "Puppymill"? ADOPT or spend the same money as a petstore at a QUALIFIED breeder! (NOT someone who call themselves a breeder just because they own the mother!) A true breeder will question whether you are worthy of having one of thier puppies and not just say - "got money? OK, take a puppy". Are you doing well in school? Being responsible in other ways? Can you start with a hamster, maybe and show you can feed and clean on a regular basis? Think of ways to show responsibility - a paper route? Are there any dogs in the neighborhood that you can dogwalk on a regular basis?

Get a bunch of pamphlets or books on raising a dog and do chores around the house. Also ask them what their favorite breeds are and get info on the most low maintence breeds. You may want to ask a vet on what type of dog would be best for your family.Personally I have a bichon and she is pretty low maintence and doesn't shed.

how old are you .....you should understand a dog is a big responsibility......I'll tell you something you can do ....If you want a dog which is the best thing you can do but make sure if your not around who will take care of your dog .....ask your folks if you are OK with this...good luck....if you want ot try an experiment try this......They tried this on me....Take a egg and watch it for 5 day's Pretend it was a Dog, Baby and see if you can handle it while watching it for that long........ if you can get a dog and tell him your ready....................

Do you know about the "sugar baby" experiament?

As your mom/dad to let you prove it to them.
