y do volunteer firepeople who work for small towns think they should get away with getting tickents ! they think they r special. one got a ticket for goin to a cal goin 90 in a 25 and tried to fight it! a town of 500 people, very small only takes like 1 min to get thru it! quit wining and slow down!
would u have given him a ticket too!! Just because ur a fire guy doesnt mean u get away with goin that damn quick does it? I know not all firement or women r like that but seems to be in these small little towns! do you agree?

I live in a small ton like you are referring to, even though I work in a large city. It is a problem, and you are right, they usually get away with it. The 2nd leading cause of death for firefighters nationwide is from motor vehicle accidents, usually responding to calls at an unsafe speed. # 1 is from heart attacks. The department in my little town has a strict plicy that the responders cannot use lights or sirens, and cannot exceed the speed limit getting to the station for a call. The policy is a direct result of an accident that permanently disabled one of the volunteers, killed the 16 y/o girl he hit. The patient at the nursing home that needed the ambulance had pulled out her catheter and was in no distress.

While 90 in a 25 is just reckless and they needed a ticket,

But in many states by law, if using a light and siren, firemen are exempt from traffic laws as long as they can do so in a safe manner.

So if they were going 40 in that 25 that may have well be ok, and they should not have gotten a ticket.
