What if God wanted to die? Would He/She have the option to do so? What if God wanted to stop being God? Is God allowed to abdicate the post? What if God wanted there to no longer be a God and convert the universe over to chaos?

And don't tell me God would never want to do these things. You don't know what God does and doesn't want to do. You will only be showing your own arrogance and ignorace by claiming to know such a thing.

If God doesn't have these options, doesn't that make God a prisoner?

Okay, you sure are inquisitive about God, you really do believe don't you.

What if God wanted to die? He sent Jesus to die on the cross, Jesus was then resurrected 3 days later. So if he wants to die he can die.

What if God wanted to stop being God? Well if he is done then we are done so if he is tired well then I am sure that we are goners, at that point it doesn't matter because we wouldn't be here to know it anyway.

To abdicate his post? First off to make sure I did not answer too ignorantly I had to look up the word abdicate. So I guess in a sense he would be covered if he decided he would like to abdicate his post at least temporarily, he does have Jesus and the Holy Spirit to turn things over to for a short time :o)

Go to chaos? No he is a God of love, there is a promise made to us that he won't but to be technical I am sure he could if he wants.

I have bible verses too, you want those?

I learned a new word today ABDICATE

If God wanted to "abdicate the post" we would not exist. God is outside of time, so if He destroyed Himself (were such a thing possible) He would never have existed. Thus He would never have created the universe and we would be here.

Since God has total control His is certain less of a prisoner then those of us trapped on this planet.

God is not an energy form.
People are energy forms.
God is the invisible forces that
govern pieces of energy known
as quarks.

Also, there is no universe per se.
Nor, is there any beginning.
The "Big Bang" is merely a point in
a cycle.

Time and space are not constants.
Time occurs because atoms cannot
form simoultaneously.
Space is merely inert energy caught
in a speed zone.

Life forms learn how to adapt and survive by
emerging and re-emerging from "restore
points" until they get it right.

It would NOT be arrogant of me to say that God would never desire or think of these things because it is not of my own opinion, but of what He revealed of Himself. Since, God knows Himself perfectly, He is content with Himself. This is demonstrated through His Son Jesus, who is the image of the invisible God. Never had or has Jesus, who is one with the Father, ever stated He was unhappy with Himself and wanted to die, fall into despair, or abdicate His divinity. If God wanted to then He would not have sacrificed Himself on the Cross through in the flesh of Jesus.
Since God is perfect order and created all things with order and purpose, then He would not want or desire the universe to spin into chaos. If He did then He would not have experienced death on the Cross through the flesh of Jesus.
God would not have the option to do as you say, because God is free. God desires the best and not the worst. And having this one choice of the best and preserving it despite any opposition (including our faults) is freedom, for there is nothing to stop what He truly desires. Freedom is not having alternatives. Freedom is having the Good and True be expressed without impediment. Since God is goodness and truth, and He is so without impediment, then God is free and not a prisoner.
May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.
God's and your beast of burden

well, god did die.... *cough jesus.........
and, in a way, he did stand down for us, he gave the world into our hands, and we made gods out of ourselves. so, in that way, the world has been handed over to chaos already.
but in a more literal sense, as you suggest, i believe God could abdicate all power if he wanted to, and no longer be god.

Seeing as how God is all-powerful and all-knowing, He has all the options. There is only one thing God can't do, and, that is to lie. That means that everything that He has promised to do, He will do.

If god is the creation of humans, then I suppose he is indeed the prisoner of human imagination. When we learn to imagine the cosmos without him, then and only then will he be free of us.

He's no prisoner, just that He has pledged his undying love for us. But be warned we mortals attempt to 'reason about' God with the pulpy substance in our skull called brain. Don't go there
