I'd like to point you in the direction of what's called Paschal's Wager:
If there no God, and you believe in him and serve him, nothing will happen. You'll die along with everyone else and go into oblivion. Nothing is lost.
If there is a God, and you don't believe in him and serve him, you'll be condemned. Therefore, you have everything to lose by not believing.
Whether or not you're Catholic, priests do a lot of good work. They help further the cause of social justice, serve as mentors and counselors, teach children, aid the sick, and comfort those who need comforting. We should all thank these selfless men - even if we're atheists - for believing in something enough to devote their lives to serving others by serving God.

What about those scientists? They spend there whole lives proving something (like Issac Newton and his rules of motion and gravity), only to have someone centuries laterprove it wrong (like Albert Einstein and his theory of relativity) .
It was scientists who came up with the idea that the Earth was the center of the universe.

I am good friends with several priests. Far from characterizing them as losers, I ask you to consider THIS:
These men are willing to give up their lives to lead people to Christ, to win souls for Him.
Even YOUR soul.
Even if, by some impossible chance, the Catholic religion was made up....they would still be WINNERS.

Although I am not catholic I do not believe that priests are losers and that is a very narrowminded mentality. At least he has something he chooses to believe in and live his life by. Most of us wander through life wishing for the same...if it makes him a better person for believing then good for him!

and I suppose nuns are stupid too, because they devote their whole life to God! you see, its just what some people believe is stupid, someone may think devoting your whole life to collecting bottle caps is dumb, but others thinkits the coolest, we might call them loosers, and they probably could care less. Besides, as you said it *COULD* be wrong or made up, but I guess until we have proof, they will keep believing, if you don't want to convert, then you don't have to, go collect bottle caps.

I believe that in true fasting and prayer that any question that you may have about the truths of the Divinity of Christ and the Religion of Christ may be answered. How you Fast and Pray is a question of your own religion!

All people (including atheists) have a degree of faith in their lives.
I used to be an atheist. Over a period of time however, I grew convinced of the existence of the Christian God, and ultimately committed my life to Christ (e.g., see http://www.godsci.org/gs/chri/testimony/seek.html ).
For scientific and intellectual evidence for the existence of God, see http://www.godsci.org/gs/godsci/evidence.htm
Cordially,
John

What gets me is when priests/pastors don't know anything about the history of their religion or their scriptures.
