sqwirlsgirl - you STILL didn't answer the question - I didn't ask why illegal immigration is right or wrong - I asked what benefits they brought here. I guess by you not answering, your answer is none. Thank you.

I just wonder what is going to happen when millions of Mexicans start aging and can no longer do the work of 20 year old at 45-50 years old. When health issues kick in this cheap labor going to destroy this country and health care with sky rocket. All these people thinking they got it made work with no job benefits what are they going to retire on, being they bearly get by now ?

I'm not sure what you mean by "pro illegal immigration".
I don't think we should just take down our borders and give
everyone who walks across the border a job.

I do, however, hold a great deal of sympathy for their plight.

I think your question comes down to "do they drain more
resources from this country than they add?".

Its almost as if you are looking at the GNP as the only gating
factor.

They certainly perform jobs that Americans may turn their
nose up at - and so if they weren't here, they probably would
lower the jobless rate. However, they add to the size of the
economy and make the wins generally bigger.

However, I don't really think that is the issue.

If I could magically prevent criminals and terrorists from
getting through, I would completely open the borders.

Why?

The haves and have-nots would quickly equalize and we
could be talking about improving the world economy instead
of just the United States economy.

That is, I don't hold any great sympathy for Americans
over other peoples. Why should I be trying to make your
life better but not Miguels?

Patriotism = Nationalism = Regionalism

Ultimately, they are all a form of tribalism, and I hope we
are culturally evolving past that.

Mr. Illegals blow,
I wish you would have asked this VERY good question 20 years ago.
Why.... you ask, well let me explain. For the last decade or so we have allowed "illegal" entry with little to no OUTCRY. We have in fact allowed people to enter and "set up homes" and "work and contribute" to their various communities with outstanding results.
When a radical movement decided that they would DEMAND the right that was "silently" given it PISSED alot of Americans off. Completely understandble........BUT.......we still have a segment of society who we gladly accepted and welcomed that are being vilified and hunted NOW based on politics and "radical ignorance".
This and this reason ALONE is the reason is I cannot jump on the "I HATE EVERY ILLEGAL BUS" that seems to be taking off regularly HERE.
I am sure there are alot more "like me".........thanks for your time.

For businesses, cheaper labor, larger labor force to choose from.

For people, it brings cultural evolution and diversity.

And it's really pathetic that you think so lowly of the great American idealism that you call "crap". Everyone in the country is a product of an illegal immigrant in some way or another. This genration of immigrants that speak Spanish are no different than the immigrants that came in the 1900s that spoke Chinese or Japanese, or the 1800s when the immigrants spoke Italian or Irish Gaelic.

Our diversity is our greatest strength. Much like genetic diversity, the more genetically diverse are superior in terms of makeup and survival. Having a nation of different peoples of different walks of life allows us to see the world in a unique way that most nations on this planet can't.

"They find new ways to spend our taxes.
They make it easier for Americans to maintain a "C" average in school. "

Illegals can't benefit from social servies without actually being registered. And are not the problem why American Children are morons. That's a combination of student apathy, inability to retain good teachers by paying them meager wages, threatening their jobs, and complete lack of giveashit and funding cuts by local, state, and federal governmetns.

Same can be said for most Americans. Unfortunatley, most of the illegals are not well-educated, economically challenged people looking for a better life. So the net effects as I count them are they bring down wages and they are more likely to become dependent on welfare, hospitals, food stamps, etc.

well there is their response, "find out for your self." . Ironical you were trying to find out by asking the question ... so that goes to show you the intelligence of " Mexican Bandito".

Michelle - you missed the whole point of the question, we don't want any more free loaders here ... they need to be able to do something other then run down our standard of living.

Rigo Barragan - you are so full of crap, your eyes are brown.

The only benefit I know of is "cheap labor". WHO CARES!?! Compared to the outrageous taxes caused by illegals, "cheap labor" barely helps at all!

actually they end up costing the government more money. because they are not citizens and they live in the u.s. a law recquires them to recieve free health care until they attain citizenship, which most of them never do, and they recieve free food stamps and free housing so really they are a drag on the economy

No, no and no. No benefits...We suffer tremendously because they are here. I could cite numerous instances, since I live in a border state...but they have all been said before. Why are they still here?
