I have seen and heard of many corrupt cops, especially the community where I live at. Some are criminals, some are racist, and some are disrespectful. One time a police officer attacked an old woman with his taser because she wouldn't cooperate with him. She was hospitalized. Another time, live on the news in St. Louis, after a car chase involving a black male, 6 or 7 police officers beat him down after arresting him. The news chopper caught it all on tape. One police officer, a black one, even noticed the chopper and stopped attacking the suspect as soon as he noticed he was on TV. And, back in highschool, cops constantly harassed us. They saw someone like me, a smart young black male heading off to college, as a criminal. Even at court houses, you could see a whole line of black people trying to pay their tickets, but never see any white people. I also live next door to drug dealers who pay cops to get off their backs. Police corruption seems to be popping up everwhere.

Most cops are honorable people. Unfortunately, the people who give them orders are politicians, who aren't. Corruption starts at the top.

The two cops who I personally know are really nice and cool people.
But....I met some weirdos too.
Unfortunately as a black person you may be a victim of a lot of unjust behavior and racism. It's quite a challenge to deal with that.
You sound like a smart kid, your spelling and grammar is so much better than that of many here and you have some decent thoughts. So you'll make your way despite all the obstacles, just try to not get bitter about all that crap people give you.
Also there are places with more and others with less racism. Perhaps you can chose one day to live in a different state, different city, different neighborhood and bring your family.
Good luck!

I've worked for two departments, one with a couple dozen officers, and one with thousands of officers, and worked with several other agencies. Looking at things from the inside, PD's are like most other places. There are really good officers who work with integrity and good faith. They make up the majority of the department. Then there are those who are like what you described. It's never a good thing when someone given the authority that a cop has abuses that authority. They are the ones who get the headlines, and stick in everyone's mind. Leadership does have a lot to do with it. The current Cheif of my department is cleaning house right now. He has gone back years looking into complaints and issues that were tolerated and swept under the rug and has fired a LOT of officers who were found to be guilty of breaking the department policies (and the law sometimes) as well as firing or demoting the supervising officers who did nothing at the time of the infraction. Not every cop / PD is bad, but the ones that are make the rest of our jobs that much harder.

Sorry you are all wrong,
on the lady, if she refused to follow the police orders, she deserved to be tazared. That is procedure and a good one, since she could well be a killer, a mass murder, a sex criminal, bank robber, the police don't know what she is.
And you said it, she would not cooperate, people who obey the law cooperate, bad people, criminals don't and they get what they deserve from it.
you see a line of black people paying thier tickets because it is most likely a black neighborhood,
You sould so raciest it is sicking, Police officers in general want to help people, they hate it when they have to use force, but have to when a person will not give up, when they keep on fighting, I have had to get 8 officers to beat a criminal down, he was high on drugs and had already lifted me up and tossed me against a war. 4 officers could not even start to handle him, he could not feel the pain, had that been on TV, it would have looked real bad, but there was no choice, it had happen to arrest the person.
And most cops would want to arrest any dirty cops, which are in the far minority.

People believe what they want. Their biases blind them to the truth. I will agree that there are some corrupt police officers, just as in any other occupation, but I disagree with your observations. The woman you say was attacked with a taser was, by your own admission, being uncooperative. I wonder how that could have been prevented? You also say that police officers are racist and use for an example a black police officer beating a black man. I must have missed something.

If you have no$$$$ that is true, where people are poor and unprotected is where criminals show up and do their nasty business. My Dad believed you don't ever have to be afraid of the policee if you don't do anything wrong. But he was wrong, there are a lot of rotten cops and my ex-boyfriend who was a cop for a while told me so. He said a lot of the polic he worked with should not be police. I would say probably 10 % are crooked

The Sherrif remains the toughest as this sounds in basic terms like many different departments around the country . hiya, possibly this might scare the unlawful invaders from taking their young infants over the border. Asskissers of unlawful invaders are searching for something to get the guy out of workplace as he's in basic terms certainly one of a few who has the balls to do something relating to the invader concern.
