Hi

Is it your second tooth ..or is it a baby tooth.....

you go to the dentist...

1. he may take an xray..which doesn't hurt...they usually have you bite down on a piece of plastic..and wear a led apron that covers your lower body and chest

2. he will examine the xray and look at the tooth for the best course of action

3. most likely he/she will fill it. You can ask for a color match filling (they cost a little bit more...but worth it...) or you can get a typical filling...silver....

4. before they drill..my dentist numbs the gum area/lip area with a novicane type stuff..it is wet and cool...then when gum line is numb..or lip...he will usually then inject a little more into the nerve..but you don't feel it...

5. the dentist will let me sit in the chair for a while reading a book..or listening to a head set of relaxing music....

6. they will come back into the room..and drill...then fill...

7. then they will say not to eat anything for 1-3 hours..until numbness wears off...

really nothing to it....

some dentists willl sedate you if you wish....but usually it is not needed...talk to your dentist...first..make sure that you are comfortbable with them...before you have them work on your teeth!

good luck....

I went through the same thing. I thought I had a cavity in my back molar... and I did. Dont worry, GO to the dentist. I have learned doctors and dentists always do what is best. I actually had more than one cavity. What he did was air blow it. It literally feels like air on the tooth. Then he put some stuff on it. It barely hurt and no you wont have to get it pulled. So go to the dentist before it gets worse so you can stopping have the pain. It will be over before you know it so just get it over with.

When you go to the dentist, they will probably clean your teeth first. Then they will take xrays of your teeth to check for cavities. If they find a cavity, they either fix it right then, or schedule another appointment to deal with it. If it is just a cavity, the dentist will give you either nitrous oxide (a.k.a. "laughing gas") or give you a shot of Novocaine. They apply a topical anesthetic before giving you the Novocaine and if you go to a dentist that advertises "pain-free dentistry", it truly is pain-free. When my dentist gives me Novocaine, I feel a little pinch, and that's it. Once you are numbed up, the dentist will drill out the cavity and remove all of the decay and then fill it. If it is a really really big cavity that is close to the nerve, you might have the option of a root canal or extraction. Good luck! ;)

Go to the dentist now!!! If it is small it will be easy to fix, if you leave it then the cavity will just get bigger and if you leave it long enough and it gets really large you may have to have the tooth taken out. So, like I said. GO NOW!!!

Trust me, you cant handle the pain if you dont go to your dentist. Dont waste time or else the cavity will spread and affect all of your teeth. Dont worry, he wont pull it out. He'll just cover it with pasta (amalgam) and your teeth will be just fine! Just go to the dentist immediately!

the dentist will just fill, it doesn't really hurt either. I was thinking if it's a baby tooth, then just wait till' it falls out, but other than that, go to the dentist they'll just fill it!

they aren't going to cap it... they're going to give you some anesthesia to numb your tooth nerves, drill the cavity to get rid of the decay, then fill it with metal so that your nerves aren't exposed and food can get in the hole to cause more decay...

you'll be fine. all they do is drill it out and fill it w/ some metal. w/ a small cavity it doesn't even hurt
