Someone (a pastor, youth leader, nun, etc) probably once told them that “find Jesus” was the answer to everything, so they repeat it without thinking. They probably also think that once you find Jesus you’ll stop asking questions that they can’t answer! I guess they never read "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" to know that the real answer to everything is 42!

Christians, like any other group, have buzz phrases that have great value and meaning to them. What they, and other groups, don't understand is that those who are not associated with their group have NO IDEA what this buzz phrases mean. It's like being in a club where you have private jokes. You don't need to say more than two words and everyone in your group is in a giggle fit on the floor, or you all see something and all you have to do is point and go "Oh, yeah!" and you all understand. Unfortunately, some people, even Christians, have good advice to offer but because they use buzz words only a select few understand them.

Perhaps there's a tiny spark of critical intelligence in many of them that makes them need fellow-believers to re-inforce their "faith". Their trouble may be they don't have "faith" which has no expectations, but rather "belief" which is more fragile, tends to be defensive, and needs support. The repetition of "magic" phrases is a typical human device to avoid thought, or confronting reality. Politicians use it, and get away with it for the same reasons priests and believers do. It's very sad, and could be funny if it didn't lead to so much anguish. I'm astonished that concepts of supernatural sky gods etc. persist and can still be manipulated by those who get profit or power from illusions. It seems to me it makes more sense, and is far more enriching, to just look at the world, and let that "flow in". Then we might truly value everything in it, and take much more care of it and each other. To hell with dogma!

I'm with Mel.
Funny thing is Christians and Catholics are the biggest hypocrites out - you can molest your siblings as long as you repent, you can control your siblings and rob them of life's experiences because of words that are written in some bloody book?
What a load of hogwash I say.
But truthfully I feel sorry for them if anything, to spend your life living for something that has never been proven and quite possibly is not true in the slightest is quite sad.
And yes all you Christians and Catholics out there - I am very opinionated about this and for several reasons - but the main two are;
1. The only thing I ever see religion doing is causing war - in families in society - everywhere.
2. Most of you are judgemental, hypocritical and thoughtless - if religion is so fulfilling - keep it for your own enjoyment and LEAVE THE REST OF US ALONE!!!!
Stop preaching and using god as an excuse for the bad things that happen and a reason for the good things that happen, save your god spin for church because there are a lot of people out there that don't now and will not ever share your thoughts - and they don't constantly tell you that god is not real and should be removed from your lives - so return the favour!!!!

Actually, it is an answer to most spiritual questions.

People ask spiritual questions because they are seeking spiritual knowledge. If the largest contingent of persons in the group are "Christians" statistically they will give the most common and acceptable answer to "Christians" which is that accepting Jesus WILL resolve many of the questions about life and happiness that the average person has.

That being said, "Have YOU accepted Jesus?".

Here is an answer from a Christian: We believe that as Christians it is our duty to spread the word of God. That if we have a chance to speak with someone about Jesus and salvation and we are too embarrassed, let society rules and laws prohibit us, or are just too lazy to do so, and that person dies without being saved, that their blood is on our hands, simply because we wouldn't try to lead them to Christ. By saying "You should accept Jesus into your heart" we are trying to spread the word of God to those that are not saved. Jesus said "If you denie me before man, I will denie you before my father." (Sorry, I'm not a good speller) So professing our love of Jesus and spreading the word of God is the opposite of denieing him. We do not hate Athiests or other non-believers, we are sadened that they are not going to spend eternity with Jesus. It is out of love for their fellow man that most Christians try to convert others. That can be believed or not, but that is the reason for it.

It's because Christians just say that. They are trying to spread the word out to people. It is their job from God to try and convert people into Christianity. If you don't want anything to do with Jesus Christ, then just ignore the answers like that and take the good advice.

God has charged us with spreading His Word and to teach people about Jesus Christ and the redemption we find in Him. Though I've never seen it put quite that way, I have encouraged people to accept Christ as part of some of my answers. Answers is a perfect forum to encourage people to accept Christ. Especially now, with the world heading for WWIII.

Christians are doing exactly what Jesus instructed all of His followers to do....Preach the Good News of His Kingdom to the ends of the earth. Sorry but that is what Christians do....Thank God.
