First, turn off the passenger side airbag if the truck has one. If you can't turn it off, you can't put the baby in safely. Then place the car seat in the passenger seat. Run the seat belt through the back and clip it in. Now put as much weight in the baby seat as possible. Try setting a knee in it. Push the baby seat into the truck seat. Tighten the seat belt at this point. The you should be good to go.
Many dealerships, hospitals, firestations and polices stations will do this for you for free also.

I second that two door trucks with or with out air bag are not safe for baby's to ride in the front seat and if it is an extended cab with sideways jump seats the rear seats really won't hold the baby seat either. Your on your own

if its only a single cab (without the back seat) you are required to put the babyseat in with the back toward the windshield... once you get the lap part thru the bars arrange the shoulder part of belt around the back of the seat for additional support... turning the seat backwards prevents glass and airbags from hitting the baby in the face in case of an accident... for newborns its always good to put the seat in backwards anyway no matter what seat you are in ... helps prevent neck and spinal injury as the baby will be jerked to the back of their seat vs. lunged forward...

baby seats must be in the rear. never in a front seat

and there either attached by the LATCH system (on newer i think 2000+)

or by seatbelt..but make sure its tight enough and the seat doesnt move

Call your local police station. They'll often have clinics showing you exactly how to put it in, meaning the baby will be safe.
