I can't answer this question because I don't agree with the basic premise. Cake is my favorite food, but I love cake batter, too. It's like they're totally different things, and it's hard to believe that one turns into the other.
I just re-read the answer above, and it sounds like I've been smoking marijuana, but I may be just tired.:)

Because cake mix cakes aren't really that good. I always make mine homemade. If I do make a cake mix cake I add oil, extra eggs,sugar and sometimes sour cream.

Because it is creamy and it has a way different texture and all the flavor has not been messed with yet!!! I definitely agree that the mix tastes better than the finished product!
