i wouldn't mind driving. there's this idea that, the GUY is the one who is supposed to drive when on a date....not true...I would NOT get mad and i don't think it's weird if i'm the one who had to drive on the date.

Well normally, if it is a date, then the guy usually drives. Its OK if, for some reason, you both decide to take her car instead. Now if he doesn't have a car then that would be up to the girl to decide if she is bothered by that or not. Once your in a relationship and share cars. Some guys insist on doing the driving when your both in the car. For me it doesn't matter. I would rather drive but then I have to hear so much bitching about my driving that I let him drive most of the time. He is somewhat of a control freak

Nah. My ex was too darn lazy to get his licence when he was sixteen. He's five months older so whenever we wanted to go somewhere I drove. Which always worked for me because I've been in a car he was driving and i did not want to die on a date!! Besides my car is freaking awesome. A blue VW New Beetle..He looked hot in it to. Haha! So no. Its not bad or wierd as long as the girl doesn't mind and the guy isn't too prideful.
At least I got to pick the tunes!!

There is no need to apologize. I guess it would feel strange because having the man drive is a rule placed by society of how things should be done but if I really liked him I would drive. No worries!

I prefer a man drive but It is not bad or weird for me to drive especially if he asks me to drive his car. I would consider that an honor.
Since women's lib and the burning of the bras (long ago) men now need for women to give them the opportunity to display their manliness and their protective natures toward us women. While going on a date it is common courtesy for a woman to let the man drive and a matter of displaying respect for the man to drive.
Marriage is quite another thing... my X-Husband knowing my capabilities threw me the keys to drive myself to the hospital for the birth of our fourth child. The important thing to notice here is X-Husband.

As long as he drives sometimes. I hate being expected to always drive and pick him up. I always want to stamp something on my forehead that says I'm not a taxi. Otherwise its fine. He drives some, she drives some. Like another girl said. It also depends on his reason.

It is not strange at all. Who cares who does the driving? Who cares what the reason may be? It still does not matter who drives! You like each other and want to go someplace. Wear your seatbelts and have fun!!!

hey, it all depends on the girl, if you wanna impress her with your nice car, you drive, ; if she's one of those girls interested in vehicles, let her take it out for a spin; if you got an old beater, tell her it's in the shop, getting fixed up and ask to use her car instead; heck, if she likes you, it shouldn't matter all that much who drives, who really gives a rip

not at all... I felt safer driving. If I didn't like him much at a given moment or got in an argument, at least I had a ride home.
