is it true that if you have a answering machine , that you cannot recieve Fax, True or false

Its true in case you have two different devices ie separate Fax and answering machine..
as both would try to contend to answer the call.. if you have combo machine which has both fax and answering machine then i normally gives the user an option to choose whether they want to send a fax or leave a VM.

In most cases, this is true. You either will not be able to get a fax or your message. the reason is that a fax machine listens for a specific tone. If the fax machine picks up and does not hear the tone, it will time out and hang up. If the answering machine picks up, the fax never receives the tone.

You can split the phone line but you will have to have your fax machine waiting for a fax and turn it off once you are done or you will not get any messages.

Alot of answering machines pick up after the fourth ring most fax machines can be set to pick up after 2 rings (the ring is electronically different for the fax so it know it is a fax ringtone it will ignore any ring that is not a fax ring.) so if you are home and expecting a fax do not pick up untill the THIRD ring but make sure ou get it before the fourth ring or your answering machine will pick up LOL

there are answering machines that are fax friendly. look for this as you shop. other than that i dunno
