You don't. You learn to live with the fact that your parent is gone forever. Trust in yourself to be strong and know that your parent wouldn't want you to grieve to the point that it kept you from having a normal life. Remember the happy times you had together, the times that they told you that they loved you. It may be too soon, but look at pictures of your parent to help you remember how happy he/she was. It has been 7 months since I lost my mother and every night I go to the picture that I have of her and I just spend a few minutes looking at it and remembering how great she was. She will live forever in my heart and memories. It has taken a while, but I can still feel the closeness we had.
Good luck !

You don't get over the death of a parent... it's like saying, "How do you forget them?" You learn to accept it and cherish the memories you both shared. Good luck.

There is no magic answer here. Everyone grieves differently. Some are quiet in their pain and others like to talk to friends, family or trusted clergy. Just trust your heart in this matter and know that they will always be with you in your heart and your memories. Eventually the everyday pain will ease, but never completely go away. Good luck and God Bless!

You can't. I lost my father before 15 years .Each & Every day i still remember him in any situation. Still I couldn't come out from that pain. Still I couldn't accept i don't have him in person. On my wedding day, when i went to that surgery room , When i took my baby first time in my hand on that moment i couldn't stop my tears because i feel i want my father beside of me on that moment. To try to forget is biggest pain than the death of love one.

I don't think you just get over it...it will always be there. You just learn to accept it and move on. Think of ways to remember an honor your parent in your daily life.

Remember the best times and go on with your life. I know they would have wanted you to have the best in life possible but it is up to you to achieve that for yourself in their memory.

Time will do it for you. In the meantime, breathe and try to carry on with life as normal as you can.
