They are doing it with religious conviction. But I don't know if they are just misquoting the book and bringing shame to muslims around the world.

"Slay them wherever you find them...Idolatry is worse than carnage...Fight against them until idolatry is no more and God's religion reigns supreme." (Surah 2:190-)

"Fighting is obligatory for you, much as you dislike it." (Surah 2:216)

"The only true faith in God's sight is Islam." (Surah 3:19)

"Believers, do not make friends with any but your own people...They desire nothing but your ruin....You believe in the entire Book...When they meet you they say: 'We, too, are believers.' But when alone, they bite their finger-tips with rage." (Surah 3:118, 119)

"Seek out your enemies relentlessly." (Surah 4:103-)

"Believers, take neither Jews nor Christians for your friends." (Surah 5:51)

"Believers, when you encounter the infidels on the march, do not turn your backs to them in flight. If anyone on that day turns his back to them, except it be for tactical reasons...he shall incur the wrath of God and Hell shall be his home..." (Surah 8:12-)

"Make war on them until idolatry shall cease and God's religion shall reign supreme." (Surah 8:36-)

"...make war on the leaders of unbelief...Make war on them: God will chastise them at your hands and humble them. He will grant you victory over them..." (Surah 9:12-)

"Fight against such as those to whom the Scriptures were given [Jews and Christians]...until they pay tribute out of hand and are utterly subdued." (Surah 9:27-)

"It is He who has sent forth His apostle with guidance and the true Faith [Islam] to make it triumphant over all religions, however much the idolaters [non-Muslims] may dislike it." (Surah 9:31-)

"If you do not fight, He will punish you sternly, and replace you by other men." (Surah 9:37-)

"Prophet make war on the unbelievers and the hypocrites and deal rigorously with them. Hell shall be their home." (Surah 9:73)

"Believers, make war on the infidels who dwell around you. Deal firmly with them." (Surah 9:121-)

"Fight for the cause of God with the devotion due to Him...He has given you the name of Muslims..." (Surah 22:78-)

"Muhammad is God's apostle. Those who follow him are ruthless to the unbelievers but merciful to one another." (Surah 48:29)

You may say that these verses are interpreted wrong or translated wrong, but fact is Islam was spread by bloodshed and conquest starting from Muhammed himself down through the ages. Read a biography on the life of Muhammed and it will be like a chronology of Genghis Kahn

No where in the Quran does it give any muslim the right or moral authority to kill anyone. If The terrorist followed the Quran then they wouldn't kill for 72 virgins, as the Quran says nothing of sexual rewards for martyrdom.

I'm been wondering this same thing. Now of course not all muslims are evil and murderous, but even the so called "peaceful ones" (again not all of them) killed and attacked people over a stupid picture. That's hypocritical and crazy, they claim to be peace loving muslims but attack at a slight provocation. Then some muslims draw pictures of Jesus in immoral ways but not Christian uprising or killing. The guy who became a Christian all the muslims wanted him dead. The wierdest thing is muslim's say mohammed is just a regular guy, who was also allah's prophet and they don't worship him or anything, yet one of the things to become a muslim is stating that muhammed is allah's prophet. See where I'm going. Cursing mohammed or insulting him is considered blasphemy. I thought he was another one of allah's many prophets apparently not. So why do muslim's claim just as much to allah as to muhammed. Also they claim nothing about Jesus but say he will come as messiah, and that muhammed doesn't do much in the end of time yet muhammed gets all this worship and stuff, but muslims say they have no divinity for him. People have gone physco crazy and killed people over some one these peace loving muslims called just another prophet or regular guy. I'm confused (once again this does not in anyway apply to all or most muslims)

Holy books including the Quran and the Bible tend to say many things that are vague and contradictory. They can be interpretted many ways, which is one reason they are so popular. It's not so much a matter of misquoting as it is of selective quoting, which is what all religions do.

Islam does not allow the masscared of innocent ppl, i.e children, women, elders....and even in days of war this group is to be remained untouched. even during the times of Muhammad (PBUH) whenever there was a war, our prophet (PBHU) always directed the soldiers never to attack the area where, women, children, and elderly ppl reside.
terrorist, are certainly giving a bad name to Islam. most of these ppl don't even know anything abt Islam. Bin Laden, who is responisble for the 9/11 attacks, few yrs a go a reporter asked him some simpel questions abt Islam and he was unable to answer them. now u tell me a person who cannot answer "define Islam?" or "what does Quran states abt jihad?" does such person can guide others to teh right? these sort of ppl interpret Quran and religion in their own way, which is disasterous. as it is said, "little knowledge is a dangerous thing".

P.S. i will try to look up that particular article and as soon as i find it, i will send it to u...

it IS misquoting. oddly enough, the bible just like the Quran can be warped and twisted to suit any need really. those islamic extremists bend the words in the quran to make it seem this war is like another crusades. "holy" war is up for various interpretations

It is usually the misinterpretation of certain parts of the Quran which is completely taken out of context in many cases. People who want to understand it, will have to know the history and other background which went with it.

This misinterpretation applies to all, the non-Muslims who try to incinerate hate by quoting them (and trying to bash on the Muslims for it), and the 'crazy radical Muslims', who are just trying to find a way to justify their wrong doings, even if, as already said, it's completely out of context to what it was originally referred to...sigh...

Do I make any sense to you with what I was trying to say?

it doesn't say this. it is taken out of context. but it does say that if you are being oppressed than to fight your oppressor, b/c oppression is worse than death. however this is not what the terrorists are doing. the terrorists are wrong!!!1
