If it is just food, then the little brush they gave you will work real well. You should use that brush or a small child size toothbrush everyday. Go around all your bracketts with it. If you dont clean around them well, whenever you get them takem off you will have perminate white spots on them, from calcium build up.
If it is hardened plaque, there is nothing you personally can. when plaque hardens it turns into calculus, which i am assuming you have otherwise you would be able to brush it off and not worry about it. When you have calculus it does not come off by brushing, You have to scrap it off. So either make an appt with you general dentist or ortho to get a cleaning, and they will be able to the necessary cleaning.

Bacteria can build up really easily if hygiene isn't quite up to par. To avoid an overwhelming growth of bacteria in your mouth, and the on-set of plaque, frush your teeth everyday and frequently if necessary. This reduces the risk of allowing stuck food to contribute to plaque.
There are dental tools which are designed to help people with braces like a water pic. Toothpicks and floss are also still wise choices to avoid getting plaque in tough spots. Visit your dentist at least every six months for thorough cleaning.

Plax, or any of the plaque softening prebrush gargles. It won't remove it all, but it will help. Also floss. Ask your dentist if a hygeinist could clean.

It's tricky...This is what I used for my daughter..I simply thought she was not brushing, so after I monitored her for a week strait and she still had all this plaque, I started to dip her toothbrush in baking soda..and it worked,,so it might work for you as well..

Sometimes the dentist can give you a little tiny brush that will fit back there.

A water pick would work out REALLY well for such things....Ask your local pharmacy which brand is the best, and get yourself one asap!
