Not if a recent federal court ruling stands. How do you feel about this? "I was in prison and you visited me." Words of Christ.

A federal judge recently declared that a Christian-based inmate rehabilitation program is unconstitutional and may no longer operate in Iowa state prisons. This outrageous decision may have far-reaching consequences, not only for prison ministries across the nation, but ultimately for many Christian organizations. How can you help overturn this restriction on religious liberty? Find out by tuning in as Dr. Dobson discusses this critical development with attorney Robbie George and Prison Fellowship's Chuck Colson and Mark Earley.

"If this decision is allowed to stand...anyone who attempts to solve the problem of rehabilitating prisoners through Jesus Christ can't participate. And that's going to mean a darker day for the prisons of America."
-- Mark Earley

It will be a shame if it cannot continue. God is the only hope that some of the prisoners have. If I were in prison, I would demand to see a clergyman and if I could not see one, I would sue for violation of my civil rights. We Christians are just as entitled to our rights as all the non-christians. Period. Amen.

Given the fact Christians tend to exaggerate, I would have to read the decision before accepting your claim as being valid.

I've read similar cases and the underlying issue was favoritism of one religion over another, not religion generally.

But, if the court so ruled, then it is appropriate. Tax dollars should not be supporting religious groups. Nor should anyone receive favors for supporting/participating in religious exercises.

In other words, if Christians get 3 hours a week to go play Christian, non-Christians should also get 3 hours a week to go play non-Christian.

That would be a real shame considering over 70% of the federal prison population subscribes to some form of Christianity.

i agree with Joe. never mix religion and state 2gether cuz it will turn out 2 b a very ugly mess. it should b up 2 the prisoners 2 find religion, no matter what type of religion it is. let them take care of their lives. in prison, that's where they find their true indentity while they're being locked up. u never know what prison might bring out on a prisoner.

Some prisons have been shut up for years. The sad thing is Islam is spreading in the prisons like crazy.

Religion and state should never mix. Besides, it should be up to the inmates to "find jesus" not up to a bunch of religious zealouts.

If al Qaeda was really smart, they would inflitrate the prison system and convert the inmates to radical Islam. (If they haven't already)
