Tumors, even benign ones, on your adrenal glands can make them put out large amounts of corticosteroids. In particular, your adrenal glands will overproduce cortisol. Cortisol is usually a stress-hormone. Helps your body cope to long-term stress response. But in large amounts, it will make you rapidly gain a LOT of fat. In the case of Cushings Syndrome, you will accumulate fat on your face (moon face), your mid torso, and the back of your neck (buffalo hump). It can make women temporarily infertile. The worst part, though, is that it can mess up your immune system.

Surgery is surgery, and these days, tumor ablation can be done with tiny incisions via laparoscopy. Recovery time is shorter for these kinds of surgeries. Ask your doctor about the least invasive surgeries available.

It would be worth it to talk with an alternative physician. I'm no expert, but on occasion, these things may be able to be dissolved. Find out. Getting a second opinion won't do anything, and you may be able to get a brief answer without the expense of a consultation.
