I prefer gelato to ice cream. If you are as avid a fan as I think you are, maybe you should invest in an icecream maker. I have the Williams Sonoma Cuisinart ice cream bucket, and often make gelato. Gelato is a little harder to make than ice cream because most recipes involve making a custard which is very easy to burn, but it's worth the effort when it comes out well. So far my favorite gelato is a schokinag artisian chocolate, that coincidentally Ciao Bella Gelato also makes.
I have always wanted to make a chestnut gelato, and am thinking of doing that this winter by using the same base as a pistachio one.
The weirdest flavor I've ever made was an avocado gelato flavored with a little jalapeno for the "vitamin c" factor. The recipe had called for "Vitamin C" to keep the avocado from browning, and I didn't have any, but recalled that jalapeno also had "C" in it. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't recommend it, either.

(If on Saturday the cake feels dry, brush on some basic syrup.) you may make the fondant a week up in strengthen purely rub with some shortening and wrap in plastic wrap or wax paper. i imagine you ought to be ok, crumb coating the cake on Friday evening and then making use of the fondant Friday evening besides.
