How can you know whether God exists?
Maybe Santa Claus exists too.

Christians often tell atheists that an atheist can never be sure there is no God.

To be sure there is no God, an atheist would have to know everything, because if there is anything the atheist doesn't know, then God could be part of that missing knowledge.

But what if the atheist responds this way: “Unless the Christian knows everything, maybe Santa Claus exists outside the Christian's knowledge.”

There is a big difference between knowing whether God exists and whether Santa Claus exists.

The biblical prophets and writers made statements like, “The word of the Lord came to me,” “When the Lord began to speak through Hosea, the Lord said to him …,” and so on. There was no guesswork or doubt — the writers say God communicated direct with people with knew Him.

But who would claim such personal contact with Santa Claus? For instance, is Santa Claus tall and skinny with long black hair? Does he live at the equator and ride a motorcycle? If these details are not correct, how do we know they're not?

In contrast, the Bible writers and prophets clearly identify God for us. They tell us about Him and how to know Him personally. Jesus said, “he that hath seen me hath seen the Father” (John 14:9). Millions have found that God rewards those who earnestly seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). Would anyone rush to claim the same for Santa Claus?

There is a flaw in your thinking. You assume everything in the bible to be wholly accurate and True. Simply, it is not. If I need to explain why, then you have a long way yet to travel and I would not waste my time nor effort, to attempt to tell you different. This is something YOU need to discover yourself.
If you follow the rules laid out for you in your book, good. If you loved ALL, regardless, I could not find fault in that. Remember though, admitting you may be wrong about something, now and again, is not a weakness, but a show of great character. It shows too, you have some control over the bane of humanity, the Ego.

As to your last comment: "Millions have found that God rewards those who earnestly seek Him (Hebrews 11:6). Would anyone rush to claim the same for Santa Claus?"
YES, I DO. As a child, Santa often rewarded my good behaviour with joy in the form of gifts. Allbeit only once a year, but that was enough. I didn't even need to seek him, he came to me!

If I told you God had spoken to ME, would YOU believe it?

My friend:

No matter how hard you try: no matter what you say: what you do: how many scriptures you quote: how many mathematical equations you show... You will 'NEVER' be able to give 'SATISFACTORY' proof of God's existence to 'ANYONE', let alone an Atheist… And if you do manage to… It will be a ‘Miracle’, which many others will refute!!

For anything and everything that you say… they will always be able to bring up a counter argument: against it!!

2006 years ago 12 disciples… 5000 people here, 3000 people there, the odd individual in the street: another in the grave: town after town: city after city: the Scribes & the Pharisees: Jesus’ brothers & family… they all saw him ‘PERSONALLY’ turn water into GOOD wine: heal the leper & the Blind: Walk on water: Fulfil & make Prophecy: Raise the dead!!

They had ‘ALL’ the proof they needed & more from the man himself… & still they 'Crucified Him'!!

What ‘PROOF’ do you think that you yourself could give: that would stop them from doing exactly the same today?

Your best not trying to ‘Prove’ God’s existence, the trinity, his salvation etc… just speak of it & His word… sow the seed… share your testimony… if there is anything to ‘Prove’: God himself will do it… to the heart that is truly seeking!!

God bless & keep you!!! Shalom!!

I have seen Santa. I went on a ride with him to the north pole. He is better than they say. He told me it gets boring up there, so he brought me, some midgets, and several dozen hot 20 some year old girls. There was a large hot tub, and something about jack danials. The rest is a blur. All I can say is Santa works in mysterious ways, and I am never getting a lump of coal. I can not wait till next time. As for Christianity, well Muslims have a book, etc too and that does not make it real. But Santa is real.

Guess what, copy and paste all of this from the opposite point of view.

Etc... it could go either way, honestly there's no point in having these debates, atheists will never convince Christians, and vice-versa, same with liberals and conservatives- no one will change sides, it's fun but it's pointless.

What was that?
Anyway, I'm an atheist, and the main reason for that is that I was born a christian and thus know the bible rather well. And I just can't believe that a god could have picked fascist fanatics (pleonasm) as Jeremiah, Nehemiah, Iesaiah and others as his spokesmen... Anyway, I have too much respect for Egyptian, Mesopotamian and Chinese Civilisations to put any believe in any self-glorifying believes of some historical dwarfs who fucced up the last 50 years of Western civilisation by playing The Great Victim.

At least the spellings improving!

Ahem, there is actually a historical record of a man in Scandinavia who is thought to have triggered the Santa Claus story, as he went to every house in the area in christmas eve and gave gifts to the children.

Another school of thought is that Santa is based upon the three wise men (remember the beards) who came with gifts for the christ child (your own religion wouldn't you know)

Furthermore the name Santa Claus is thought to be a distortion (say it in a scandinavian Accent) of Saint Nicholas, again a christian Saint

I would therefore argue that for your point of view, if you argue that Santa Claus doesn't exist, then neither can your own god or messiah.

From my point of view, he is real, as I believe him to be an earthly (Midgard) incarnation of a Norse God (possibly Odin, although Thor is more often described as riding a flying chariot pulled by magical animals). So many of our eddas were lost in the christian persecution of heathens and pagans that it is likely the Santa Claus legend stems from one of these lost stories.

By the way, you are more likely to be believed insane if you say you have met god or jesus than if you claim to have met Santa!!

I hate to see a bodybuilder/ fighter come up with these dumbass comment because then ALL of us get stereotyped the same way.

You come up with some of the most insanely idiotic comments I have ever heard. Atheists and theism are collectively dumber as a whole for having read your questions.

In another one of your questions you indicated a baby could understand the bible. You're close your on a second grade reading level.

Maybe talk about boxing or lifting.Stay out of places were there is logical reasoning and rational thought.

Surprise! Santa Claus is based on a real human! His name was Saint Nicholas & he was involved with the Early Church Fathers; the Anti-Semites who established the Catholic & Christian Churches!

Why would we believe something when there is no evidence?

Of course, your statement works the other way around, in order to be sure there is god a religious person would have to know everything.

The Bible is not proof of god, it's like a child saying something completely unfeasible and then saying 'my Dad told me so' as proof it is true, except without the excuse of youth.

I am not an atheist, but I wanted to check out the answers of non-believers anyway. I did and they are pitiful answers. God is something that is all around and you can feel. You have only to look at the ocean that is bigger than life itself to realize this, a better question I have is by believing what do you have to loose. By not believing you spend eternity in hell.
