Unless you have some experience at fixing Tv then to try to describe how to fix it by guess work without seeing it would be like a brain surgeon trying to instruct you in doing a delicate brain operation by writing you a letter !!. Now the cost , depends what country you are in, here in Australia it would probably be $150 give take $20 !! Hope this helps ! .

Unplug it for 5 minutes. See if that fixes it. If not, it sounds like the power supply for the high voltage is not working. Could be a fuse, a diode, the transformer, or the whole powersupply. If it's not a HDTV, I suggest you buy a new TV (If you can afford it). Otherwise, it's probably about a $200-400 repair job.

similar trouble also occur on some sony models.if i'm not mistaken your tv's power swicth is a push-pull type.if so then replace the swicth.push-pull swicthes becomes to loose contact if its already old.hope it'll help solve your problem....(",)
