I don't want it for defense or to intimidate people. Jeez, I've been collecting knives since I was 10 years old and I'm 26 now and I've never used a knife to intimidate or threaten anyone. It's just an interest. I've never fired a hand gun. I mean, I have a BB gun, but that isn't the same obviously. Like 311 says, "Guns are for p*ssies." I believe that if you're carrying one around. I think they were referring to the gangsters and ganster-wannabes cuz if you have to use a lethal weapon to defend yourself, you REALLY are a p*ssy. I have a few friends that have gun licenses for hand guns but I've never seen the guns because they use their dad's hand guns at the firing range and therefore need a license to use them. Anyway, any suggestions on a cool looking one that doesn't cost too much?? Please don't tell me I'm stupid for wanting a gun...you may gain 2 points but you're just wasting space for other people's more reasonable answers.

It really depends on what you're looking for in a handgun. Power, weight, appearence, load, action, recoil, accuracy, ect.
I would suggest going to:
www.gunbroker.com
I'm not saying buy anything from there, but take a look around, ask questions and such. All sellers are Federal Firearms Dealer, they really know their stuff.
I agree with the first post, a 9mm Glock is a great choice all around.

I have several handguns. It all depends on what you want it for. My favorite all-around gun is the Springfield XD 357 in .357 Sig. However, I really want to buy the new one in .45 ACP.

You can't co wrong with a 1911 .45, its classic.

If you like new and cutting edge, go for the FN Five-Seve in 5.7X28. What a great gun, but expensive to shoot.

Personally, I think the glock is over-rated.

If you want a gun that is going to really be fun, and accurate, I suggest buying a Springfield Armory .45cal ACP hand gun.

The Military has been using if for years it has huge stopping power, and it is much more fun than a 9mm

Any period you are interested in? Any organizations? Military? Style? Movie?

i.e. buying an old western colt, a cop glock, old WWII weapon, revolver, Smith and Wesson from Dirty Harry or a James Bond Walther PPK.

Examples to get you thinking on what you might be interested in.

If all youre going to do is target shoot, a .22 target pistol with a scope will suffice. I saw an answer on the way down that said something about not needing a gun unless youre going to fight for your country. hitler said something very similar.

Well if it's just a toy, get a 9mm luger, it may not pack much punch, but it's cheap.. If you want a real man's gun get a .45 acp by S&W.
