For Shaolin Long Fist kung fu? Judo? modern self defence?

And which is better to use? bracelets/anklets straps or a vest?

Note: Although I'm in the practice of Long Fist, I dont spend much time on kicks, only low ones no higher than the knees.

for our clients we don't recommend the weighted vests just because the injuries aquired from them can be many and often times moderate to severe (strained lat muscles, tender rib cage, pulled shoulders, strained pectoral muscles, etc.), plus they quickly cause fatigue, especially in the back and shoulders where you really don't want injuries to occure...

we do recommend the light ankle/wrist weights (3-10lbs) to improve speed and resistance when it comes to striking and kicking, and even then we only recommend them to be worn through half of the workout session...

adding additional weight to your body during a workout should be gradual. your body needs to build up it's strength and resistance in this area. although it may only seem like 3 little additional pounds, you can really injure your joints or tendons if you do not use them with caution...

hope this helps!

I do My Jhong Law Horn longfist.
Weight vests and weights are usually not a good idea.
Movements should be slow and controlled.
Do not have so much weight your form is bent.
If you cant get good form, dont usem.
We usually use wooden blocks for the white crane upswings ect... Those are long fist punches.

Control.

Never use ankle weights as they seperate the femur from teh shin when you extend on a kick. OR SPIN

With any weights on limbs (wrists/ankles) you should only do slow controlled motions or you risk injury. Vest also should be used only in controlled situations.
