New cars, expensive jewelry, the finest clothes, a generous salary. 90% of what a person pays in church goes to those items. Religion is good business. I know Jesus cant wait to come back so he can drive a cadillac discard his robe for a Gucci suit and trade in his cross for some bling, bling, bling.

A lot of teleevangelists are rich and I think fake. However, in a regular church, the church needs money to pay the electric bills, etc. They just need that kind of money. My home church is always short money just to pay the basic bills. But the thing is, it's always up to you to give money or not. Expand your mind a bit. You don't have to give money to anything you don't want to, even if you're a member of a church. You never have to pay money. They just ask members to give money so they can have a place to go to church, if you like that sort of thing. I think it's obvious money would have nothing to do with being saved. If you believe in a ministry and want to help it with money, that's why you would give.

Being religious costs nothing. Don't ever buy into someone telling you otherwise. Money can never buy redemption and supporting televangelists will never gain right standing with God. Tithing to support God's work is an act of sacrifice on your behalf to honor Him. If you want to honor God, you must decide what is important to you. Trusting Him by believing His word, the Bible, and what it says about Jesus is most important. Your reaction to His love after that is what will inspire you to do good.

All religions ask you to give money in a way or in another, it has been like that for thousands of years.
Religion is a manner of controling people, in the past this meant money from each individual, and a position of respect from the government, as time passed, and governments became independent from religions, they evolved and became efficient marketers of spiritual services.
How do you think the Pope can afford to fly on a private Boeing 777? or ride on $1,000,000.00 cars?

Multiple reasons. They have to pay rent and bills for the Church, TV Show, Rent for their homes and food on their tables (for those who are Priests as a profession). Mormons require a certain percentage of your income, but they also help distressed members of their Church that are in need. Others dont' care about your soul, only what you can give them.
I believe in God, don't go to Church, don't give money to any Church, live an honest clean life. I think that's all it should take.

Tithing IS required, it's why Cain slew Able, his sacrifice was not acceptable to God.
Most televangelists are in it for themselves, not for God.
There are days when I can't tithe, I'm raising a family, but, I try to give as much as I can when I am able.
No, it doesn't cost to 'join' a religion, well, except for the churches, ie, latter day saints?, who expect you to give everything to the church.
This is something I may be wrong in, but, I'm sure some LDS will correct me, if I am..
And that will be fine, just do it in a Christian like manner..
In other words, no flames.

Hmmm...ok, let me take a stab at this one. No, you don't need money to go to church or to get into heaven. Moses told the people to bring stuff for the temple as their hearts were moved to do. God doesn't need a dime of your money or mine. People give because they want to. Also, I would like to know why waitresses ask for 10% or 15%. Can they create the world too? Hmmm...

They need the money to keep the ministry going and to be able to pay the church bills and all because the bills doesnt get paid on their own. But the more you give and you have faith god will give u back the same plus more and all god asks is to give 10% of what u have to his ministry and he will bless u greatly!

Ok....religion is totally out of hand! We all know this....we should all be united as one, but whatever.....we never will be.......how I look at it is this: the "churches" and "organizations" that ask for money and get upset when you dont give, are not true churches....plain and simple
I'm sure the word "tithing" will work into some of your answers, but that is a totally different thing as far as I'm concerned

true religion doesnt cost anything, in fact religion years ago was a way to control people, these days its just a way to make money. Why else would church priests make so much money and have such large churches and yet never give anything back to the people who allow them to have such nice things. Thats why im jewish, nothing to worry bout their! Cant go wrong after all jesus was a jew? So why do people worship him anyways - didnt god say in one of the testiments- thou shalt have no other god before thee- or not to make a symbol of him...i wonder why they think jesus is god- and whats worse is they already symbolized jesus- and by doing that and worshiping him they have broken 2 laws...Yeah their going to hell...Lol...
