Since September 5 is just around the corner, I wouldn't plan on losing a lot of weight before then. However, going to college is an excellent opportunity for you to get a new start and change your old habits. Set a gradual plan for yourself without getting too over-enthusiastic. Losing weight is serious and it takes time. Set a realistic time line with goals, an exercises and diet plan. Stick to it and find support with the new friends you will make at college. I think you'll do great because going to college will give you the change and motivation in your life that you need. In the mean time, embrace and love yourself for how you are and be proud of the gradual achievements you make while losing weight. Good luck!

Only 16 and heading to college already? did you skip a grade? As for losing weight, there is not a quick fix it has to be a combination of eating right and excercise. You can do a fad diet but at the end of the day you will just gain it right back. Try Weight Watchers. It works for a lot of people.

Good carbs like celery and carrots will never make you fat. Bad carbs like cake will, but you don't need to know the whole science of glycemic index and load. It is mostly NOT your fault, if you need to lose weight. The way we have been taught to eat is responsible for making obesity the number one health problem in the world (according to Atlantic Monthly magazine) replacing hunger and infectious disease. You need to re-learn how to eat so you can become thin. Not a diet, but diet lifestyle.
Find out about fastest way to lose weight, gradual ways to lose weight, most effective exercise, good and bad carbs and anti-water. Lose bodyfat and retained water which also makes you a lot fatter (bloated). Links page has gov. BMI calculater to find out just how much overweight you are. Most important-- make sure to read the last "fat loss tip", first before anything else, to see the number one food that causes Americans to be fat.

A lot of times gaining weight is emotional. I don't know you but I hope I can help. Be happy with your self. Working out is a great way to make you happy. My mom is a very large woman but in excellent health. She works out all the time but she'll never be skinny. But she's a kick butt black belt and it doesn't matter that she's big. She's happy and healthy. :D I hope you find something that makes you feel happy and makes you feel good to.
