1. - Love god, and follow the commandments - Luke 10:25-28
2. - Sell everything and become a disciple - Luke 18:18-22
3. - Hate your whole family - Luke 14:26-33
(How do you honour father and mother, and hate them too?)
4. - Eat Jesus Flesh and drink his blood - John 6:53-54
5. - Change and become little children - Matthew 18:2-3
6. - Be born again (and a bunch of weird stuff about "where does the wind come from? duh) - John 3:3-8
7. - "Unless your righteousness surpasses that of the pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven" - Matthew 5:17-20
-Have you followed the Mitzvot, the 613 laws of old testament?
8. - Believe in Jesus - John 3:16
As you see, John 3:16 just isn't enough. You must fullfill all 8 obligations. If you don't, why did jesus mention them?
Especially the Mitzvot. Have you had your shellfish today?
These passages are NOT out of context. How can anyone possibly justify the incongruent ramblings of jesus?

You christians make me laugh, how can any of it be taken out of context? I didn't say things like
"if you're rich, you've got to pass through the eye of a needle", etc.
These are explicit instructions by Jesus. The points, context, and bible verses are right on the money.

I'm quoting the gospels here, jesus own words NOT OUT OF CONTEXT. No dreams, no metaphors. People asked how to get to heaven and he told them, plain and simple.

Sorry Jacob D,
The old testament laws still stand. jesus said;
"For truly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass the law until all is accomplished. Whoever then relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who does them and teaches them shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 5:18-19
Clearly the Old Testament is to be abided by until the end of human existence itself.

gethsemenerose,
Regarding your "interpretation" of rule #2 (Luke 18:18-22) what gives you the right to tell jesus what he was actually saying? To any one who's read THE ENTIRE PASSAGE, he means sell all your stuff.
Lol, YOU CHRISTIANS ARE THE ONES TAKING THE PASSAGES OUT OF CONTEXT TO JUSTIFY YOUR STANCE.

Step 1: REPENT from worshipping the world's knowledge, including your own intellect.
Step 2: SEEK and ASK for the help of the Spirit (the Spirit is found within).
Step 3: BANISH Satan (spirit that rules this world) and his angels by telling them to "get thee behind me." Tell them "stop standing before my face!"
Step 4: BELIEVE in the Word of God (including the words of the Spirit).
Step 5: have FAITH in the Word of God (and the Spirit) to give you what you need when you need it. Here you must become as a little child, knowing that as a child, you do not always know what you need.
Step 6: HUMBLE yourself, disregarding your own thoughts, your own opinions, and your own way of thinking, placing the value of your own opinions at zero, and admitting that "someone" else may know more than you do.
Step 7: TRUST that the Word of God (and the Spirit) will not guide you wrong, but will lead you in the Way that you should go.
Step 8: OBEY the instructions from the Word of God (and the Spirit) when you are given the Divine Name of God. This is the Baptism into the Name of the Son, the Father, and the Spirit. This is the "immersion" in the Name, calling upon this Name in whatever you say or do while still in this world.

Ok lets take them in order; First off John 3:16 states that you must believe in him. (this means repenting of your sins and realizing/accepting that he is the LORD over your life) it is part an parcel of the entire salvation message of John 3. John 3 doesn't give multiple steps just a simple picture of the ONE step you need to take in repentance and realization)
SO
1. If he is lord over your life you would already love him (is part and parcel and the same thing because you would never allow anyone TOTAL dominion over your mind and sould without loving him first) so the first one is the same as John 3:16 just in different words.
2. Sell everything and become a disciple is again a means of saying that everything you have becomes Gods (a LORD is a LORD and he owns everything you own nothing) So you have Already done this too
3. Hate your whole family. This one is taken out of context. The quote is to be interpreted (as he says in the rest of it) in terms of "hating his own life" as in realizing that he was a sinner up to this point and now must repent of that sinful life and repent even of the sins of his mother and father again already part and parcel of the original salvation neccesisty
4.The Debate on transubstantiation isn't even an issue I am not catholic. In the context as I and most others read it Jesus is saying you must become as he is take on his character and take on his will and follow him.
5. becoming as the little child is the simplest of them all even a little child understands that Love is not complicated it is when we get old that we start to ask silly questions like yours and get hung up on the details.
6. Be born again is what the Central Message of John 3 is all about so it is not an Extra thing to do. John 3 3-8 is simply summed up in John 3:16
7. Ah the Righteousness argument.. LOL NONE are righteous enough that is the point we cannot be righteous so we need HIS covering to make our "righteousness surpass that of the pharisees" without turning to God as a Born again Child of God we will never be this righteous and will never get in. this is not a NEW thing added to the salvation message it is WHY we need the salvation message.
8. Believe in Jesus (how can this be different that John 3:16 wich says ... "believe in him" ) obviously not. So the answer is by following in Jesus Life and footsteps you are Following all 8 of these.
They all clearly flow together.

You have the verses somewhat, but here is the thing you don't have it completely. For example to believe like children cause children believe, for example children believe in Santa Clause so believe like a child would is what this means. Plus it is harder for a rich man to get to heaven than it is to get through the eye of a needle, take that anyway you want but the Bible says something like that and it is kinda like what you are saying about #2 sell everything, cause I doubt if Oprah Winfrey for example would choose to really sell everything she had if it came to that or going to heaven! The eating the flesh and drinking the blood was just a symbol. You have to understand there is so much to the Bible that is why Scholars have been studying the book for thousands of years, it is a really deep book full of truth though.

#4: If we are to literally eat His fleah and drink Hid blood, why did He give bread and wine to the disciples at the Last Supper?
#5: Did you read the next verse? It said to HUMBLE yourself. That one is out of context!
# 7: Think about how much Jesus talked about how sinful the Pharisees were? In other places in the Gospels, He told on lookers in regard to the Pharisees "Do as the say but not as they do" He was dissing the Pharisees when He said that. It's pretty darn easy to be more righteous than the Pharisees!

The gospel is foolishness to those who are passing away, what you read, you do not understand because the Holy Spirit is not in you. If you accepted Jesus Christ and received the Spirit, these things would be clear to you.
The thief who hung beside Jesus on the cross said "Lord, remember me when you come into your kingdom".
Jesus responded "I tell you truthfully, today you will be with me in paradise!"
Though that man ate no flesh, hated no parents, did not become a child etc.
Do you see that there is much more to the Christian faith than what you understand?

Greetings,
Well you certainly are confused about this issue. Had you read a little closer you would have discovered that by the grace of God we are saved not by works. Yes we must believe that Jesus is our Saviour;there is no other name given under heaven that can save no not any other. yes we must love and obey God.yes we are to be babptized but not a neccessary requirement. by belief injesus we are reborn or born again.
Jesus also stated that any that believe in His name were to be saved. the rest of what you have as requirements is so that one may gain their treasures in heaven and rewards to those that are faithful and true. thereh are also the martyrs that have different dispensations from God. but works will not gain you heaven or eternal life.

You are confusing commands with what it takes to be saved. We are not saved by what we DO but by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross. Being born again is what happens when you put your faith in Christ. Taking communion (eating the symbols of Jesus blood and flesh) does not save. It is in remembrance. You cannot put your faith in Christ without loving God so that cannot be separated.
Have you read the contexts of these? Yes, you HAVE taken them out of context. You didn't look around them to see what in the world they were referring to. There is a verse that says, "Judas went and hanged himself." and another that says, "Go and do thou likewise." Taking them out of context means that you have no regard to what Jesus was teaching when He said them.
If you do not put your faith in Christ, the only other way to heaven is by being 100% perfect in absolutely everything. (Impossible for us humans!)
We are saved by grace through faith, not of works. Ephesians 2:8-9 Oh, guess you only read the verses you WANT to read and don't read the others. You can't pick and choose. You have to take the Bible as a whole.

just two things actually 1.love God 2. beleive in God
you don't have to sell everything. Jesus was just saying to not put things before him
you don't have to hate your family. just don't put them before God (J.O.Y. J-esus first O-thers second Y-ourself last) you don't actually because 1 there's not enough to go around and 2 its just metiphorical he says "do this in rememberance of me" no "eat me every Sunday". you become children, its just an example because children are pure.
Being born again is just being baptised its symbolising your old self dying and you coming back to life as a christian. the pharisees aren't that righteous, i mean they killed the son of God. and the laws of the old testament are more like guidlines now, (not saying you shouldn't follow them) but since jesus died for us and our sins can be forgiven by him we don't need to follow them any more.
but i understand your pont of veiw.

I know the Bible well and you completley misquoted them and they are out of context. You could be a total sinner who has escaped from police all your life and be on your death bed and with your last breath if you accept Jesus into your heart then you are saved.

The gospels also claim Jesus says stuff about needing to follow the old law... is that where you're getting the shellfish from? Don't forget animal sacrafices!
P.S. Don't mistake what Jesus really said for how the gospel writers portrayed what he said. For all we know they put words in his mouth.
