There's this guy that I like. Who I thought liked me, however, he just got out of a bad marriage earlier this year, and isn't ready to date. Finally he tells me this! I've been trying to get it out of him for 8 months now. He told me not to take it personally. He says I'm too dear a friend to do that to. Huh? I'm not sure what that meant. No matter. He's just not interested in me is what I got out of the conversation, even thought those weren't the exact words he used. Anyway, if he's not interested or ready to date, why keep flirting with me? I have to wonder if he doesn't quite know how mean and hard it is for me.

He does like you in some way he's just very, very leary of getting involved too deep in another relationship. The flirting is a way for him to express his feelings for you without any strings attached and without putting himseif into a position to get hurt again. Give him time and be there when he's ready if you really like him and feel like waiting. It's prolly gonna be a while though.

Some men just love to flirt (and so do some women). I think you all ready had your own marriage arranged before the first date. I am sorry he broke your heart, but divorce is nasty business and he probably isn't ready to open his heart to anyone yet. Don't let this be a negative, live, and learn. Flirting is good. Don't be afraid to flirt (with him, even). Have fun.

Just be greatful he's letting you know know this now instead of several years down the line ...well at least finally. Sounds like he's still rebounding and can't be trusted to NOT hurt someone the way he was hurt. Something about being jilted makes you feel "Once bitten, twice shy" and not so eager to jump into the pool again. I would just keep searching and not take his flirting seriously at all.

A male friend of mine used to do that to women all the time - he'd flirt with anyone; the bank teller, the Dunkin'Donuts girls, any waitress who came to our table, etc... and I knew he wasn't interested in dating any of them. I asked him once why he was always flirting with women... he said, "Because it's flattering! Besides, it's just flirting! It doesn't mean anything"... and I said, "It does to them".
Some men (and women too, I suppose) don't realize that their 'innocent' flirting can be taken the wrong way by someone else and it can be quite hurtful. If you feel that way with your friend, you should tell him. Maybe it'll spare you some hurt feelings... and some other people's, too.

Because flirting is fun! He didn't get you into bed and never called you, he just flirted with you and it was up to you to either let him or stop it. There is nothing wrong with flirting. Every normal, outgoing person (even the ones in serious relationships) flirts.

It sounds like he enjoys goofing around with you for shi*s and giggles but dosen't see you as a romantic relationship and is trying to let you down easy.

It's because he's not interested in you. You must be ugly cause most guys will play like they are your friend just to get a chance at the goods.

You need to chill. Everyone flirts. Its normal and shouldn't be taken too seriously. Just enjoy it.
