Assuming you're on a windows system, when you try to delete the file, do you get an error message box? If so it could be that for whatever reason your PC has the file locked due to access.

I would restart your computer. Just as your computer boots up (the memory test, power-on screen, etc.) start tapping the F5 key and select "Safe Mode". Once safe mode booting finishes try to delete the file at that point. It should work.

What is the error message you get when you delete the file and what is the full pathname to the file (i.e. C:\Documents and Settings\Joe User\My Documents\readme.txt).

It could be that it is locked by an application that has it open, or locked by Windows. If you're on Windows XP Pro it could be a permissions problem.

More info would help.

Have you tried rebooting in safe mode? How about deleteing it from a command prompt?

Is it a system file? It is protected.

It must be a protected file, necessary for system operation, or for an application.

You could get, then run, Crap Cleaner! If it is important, it will remain, if it is a luser, it will be gone...

Try shutting down and restarting your computer. If that doesn't work, start your computer in safe mode (press F8 when the Windows Loading screen pops up).
