Bass boost at low volumes works well. The problem with it is that at higher volumes it tends to over drive your speakers causing them to distort. Distortion is the number 1 reason why subwoofers and speakers break. Unlike a loud button that levels off the effect of the lower frequency emphasis at certain volumes, the bass boost keeps the emphasis going. I recommend using it with caution. If you feel that you need it on while the stereo is cranked up you really need to add some bass to your system. If you have bass than you need to look into upgrading your system.

Some people use it, bass boost are only for people who like the effect and the better sound it produces, i use bass boost, it makes yur system sound so much better!! It's just like increasing the bass on the system, won't damage anything, just make sure it's not TOO loud :)

Well, TBONEZAP is wrong (as most people are about distortion) and for a 12Voltsalesperson + MECP Installer, he should know better.

I can drive speakers with a 100% clipped square wave signal all day long with no problems as long as the thermal and mechanical limits of the speaker are not exceeded.

I can feed a speaker 100% distortion all day long with no damage as long as the thermal and mechanical limits of the speaker are not exceeded.

I can exceed the thermal and/or mechanical limits of a speaker and watch it fail in short order.

These are electrical and physical truths and anything else is a myth.

Its all to do with the human ear which when listening to music at low volumes is more sensitive to high frequencies. If you are listening to music at a low volume, then use bass boost. Otherwise , switch it off.

boost sometimes messes with your speakers due to the fact that it sends low frequencies to all speakers and subs.....be careful with it
