The mixing water half and half with juice and gradually watering it down more each time worked with my 3 girls and they now prefer water over anything else.

Try mixing water in with his/her favorite drink. 3/4 favorite drink to 1/4 water, then go half and half and so forth. Give each portion about a week or so before you add more water.

My son will only drink "juice" (ie beverages that are neither milk nor water), so I blend 2/3 water w/ 1/3 juice. You could also try slightly diluted koolaid if you're kid gets the squirts from all that juice (like my kid). Don't get sugar free drinks, though, they tend to have sorbitol in them and that can cause digestive probs too.

Everytime you take him/her out in public , bring his cup/or bottle with water in it. That way they have no choice but to drink it. Trust if they are thirsty enough they will give in and drink it. And since ur out you wont be able to give in as easy because u dont have a fridge right there to grab juice or whatever he wants.
This is how I got my son start drinking it. He is very big on chocolate milk. but he gave in and now he'll drink it with no problem. Plus it helps me to make sure he gets water cause I know everytime we are out he gets it.But if you dont start introducing it soon , they wont drink it later , cause I didnt do that with my first kid and she never wants water.
Good luck, and dont give in .

If you never introduced juice into his diet, this would not be a problem. He WILL drink water if You stop giving him anything else. This is not rocket science!

Out of curiousity, why the push to get them to drink water? Is this a new fad for parents, not trying to be rude or anything, just curious.

When I introduced a straw to my toddler, she was excited to learn that and didn't care what was in the cup, so I gave her water. They think they are being like big people.
