Not exactly .... and more likely!
HOW:
The Americans thought that when Israel attacks the Lebanese civilians, the Lebanese will revolt against Hezbulla. But what happened is that the Lebanese got more united ...and even the Lebanese Christians (50% or so of the people) supported Hezbulla due to the bravery of Hezbulla fighters defending their land. At the same time, 90 Israeli soldiers were killed while fleeing back across the borders.
Now that the Israelis lost the war in the battlefield, the Americans refrained from pinning hopes on them.
Ultimately: the American troops will be facing a longer hard time in Iraq.

Hello...Bush is not trying to stop the Israeli's from warring with Lebanon, that would be futile. There has always been war between the Jew and the Arab....Bush knows that. There will always be war between the Jew and the Arab. We as American's know that we need to support Israel the best we can. And thank God we have a President who is brave enough to do just that! Our country will suffer when we stop supporting Israel.

Actually it is no game, Lebanon has been planning War for awhile, but the cost of Americans overseas had taken our deficit to an all time high and I don'think Bush really cares what the cost is for freedom and protection, but he knows that whom ever is in office next will raise taxes.

Most likely yes. But, it's a strategic game with objectives. And, the objective is not for Israel to "win the war".
Some things (objectives) the US administration may hope or have hoped to achieve:
With the US elections in the Fall the Republicans hope(d) to convert Jewish Americans who are often Democrats to voters for them. The Democrats don't want to lose Jewish support either. Plus, crisis situations usually favor the party in power for elections.(If the relationship isn't clear Israel could not continue to exist without US $ - both public and private; the state of Israel was established to look after British interests in the region; now it's for US interests, too; US did not press Israel for cease fire but told them in advance, it seems, that they definitely had two weeks before the US would pretend to involve itself. Of course, now it's way past 2 weeks!)
With the world in such (increasing) crisis Bush may decide to continue his presidency by one means or another until well after his term expires so could be in for life. And, of course, he has several brothers, as well.
Remember that the Bush family and Cheney have both made lots of money in big oil. The already wealthy northeastern Bush family wisely invested in Texas oil. Hence, they are also looking after oil interests and this war in Lebanon and Iraq may be prolonged and expanded. It's supposedly over but wait and see! Iraq was supposedly "over" early on much to my shock, but unfortunately I was proven right. As long as there are any kinds of non-Lebanese troops on the ground- including "peace-keepers", it is not really other, either.
I looked at a map a few years ago and predicted (I fear accurately) that the US administration was trying to take effective control of all of the countries across from Afghanistan to the Mediterranean. Take out a map and look! These would include Iran, Syria and Lebanon. Not only are there oil fields in the region but there are oil pipelines (or trucking routes) to be protected but once the oil is out of the pipeline it must be loaded onto oil tankers. If they take oil directly into the Arabian Sea they would either have to send the tankers around the horn of Africa or through the Red Sea and Suez Canal.
But, indeed as I look at the map the countries which the US seems intent to invade in Africa (Sudan and Somalia) are both "unfriendly" countries which border the Red Sea! So, perhaps they want to secure multiple routes.
You can learn more about what's going on by reading the history and economics of regions and looking at maps than by news. You know by now that everyone was lied to about Iraq. Liars by their nature tell whatever lies are necessary to "get their way".
I knew the truth and the outcome in Iraq from long-time research into Islamic fundamentalism and the history of the region. Really anyone who had read an Encyclopedia article on Iraq would have known the outcome.
And, do not underestimate the importance of the "military-industrial" complex in the US, the dangers of which Eisenhower warned about. It is the major employer in the US and new jobs are in this sector as well. So, stopping the wars will involve a big "re-think" of the US economy.
For Lebanon, I found of interest that they are a "water-surplus state in a water-deficit region". See: www.theodora.com/wfb2003/lebanon/lebanon_geography.html
Specialists have long predicted that wars of the future will be over potable water.
If you haven't, read about 18th century Imperialism (including, but not limited to the Zionist movement) and World War I and II and even into the post-war period. And, if you learn anything from your readings share it on yahoo answers with others.
And, for those who may consider me a paranoid extremist, look at all of the news headlines under the first Bush and explain to me why many of these areas such as Iraq and Somalia and Sudan were doing ok under Clinton and how this current administration has just picked up exactly where the Bush administration was in 1992. Go, look in the library at old headlines from 1988-1992 and even before. It is amazing. It's deja vu all over again, as they say. And, even look back further. Bush, Jr. is but the culmination of the Reagan revolution.
