Creationism stems from one non-scientific, supernatural belief: the Bible is from God. The rest is misrepresented science.

Red Rover, that kind of thinking goes nowhere in life.

First, intelligent design (not creationism) is based fully in understanding the mass corroborative effort in deliberate misinterpretation of a massive amount of scientific evidence. Mathematics, Physics, Geology, and Genetics (to name a few) are fields that when the collected data is overlaid PROVE that the universe cannot possibly have been in existence long enough, or the earth or the Milk Way Galaxy either, for any possibility of 'accidental' evolutionary processes to have produced multiple species of life anywhere. The complexity and diversity of DNA prove that there HAD to be a designer.

People of faith take the next step through logic, that if there is a designer of such capability, that He would have made Himself known. This line of reasoning leads to Judeo Christianity, and creationism.

You can't prove creationism using science, and any Christian who knows anything about science will admit that. I'll admit it. I can't use science to prove that creation happened. I wish I could, but I can't.

However, I am not at all convinced that science (using scientific method) can prove evolution either.

If you can tell me of an experiment that you can do to prove not only that it is possible for the universe to independantly come into existance and for life to form from non living matter but also prove that is how everything here came into existance, then I'll believe that evolution is without a doubt correct.

What I love about science is how we explore the amazing world that we live in quantitatively, learning more and constantly testing. There is no reason that what we can observe in the present can not exist in such a way because of a biblical creator, rather than just random chance.

But science is not incompatible with creation. Picture this:
God creates the world like Genesis, which if He does exist, He could very well do of course, being omnipotent. Adam and Eve are created perfect, including their perfect chromosomes (no harmful mutations, no genetic disease). And all the other animals, and the dinosaurs. Then they break the rules, and sin and death enter the world, and genetic mistakes, too. Their kids marry each other, but that's not a problem, because there isn't much chance for genetic mutations after only several generations. Then, when the ten commandments are brought down, incest becomes illegal. Why? After so many generations, mutations have occurred and marrying your siblings means higher likelyhood of expressed recessive diseases. So this all makes perfectly logical sense. (Even if it is just a fairy tale, it's a logical plot.)
Now, the only real problem is carbon dating. I only understand the basic concept (I'm a biology student, hammering chemistry into my brain is hard work), that dating is based on the half life of carbon, meaning the time it takes for carbon 14 to break down. But, my question which I can not find the answer to, is what did they test this on? The oldest organic material which they would have a date for might be parchment that still bears the year on it, maybe several thousand years old or so. But how, besides extrapolation, can they know that carbon dating is reliable for things older than that? Or what if, when God created the earth, there was no carbon 14, and it formed after the fall at whatever the rate is that it generates in the atmosphere? (I also realize that there are other similar ways of dating material, but they raise the same question in my mind.)

The Bible itself says believe, not prove. I do believe in God and that He did create our world, but it's not something that can ever be proved. But science doesn't disprove it, either, and neither does it truly prove an alternative beyond a shadow of a doubt. So, we'll always have our own opinions whether we were created or evolved.

Besides, if God is indeed real, then that non-scientific, supernatural God I believe in is actually the creator of science.

One cannot use real Science to prove creationism, creation science (a supreme oxymoron) or intelligent design...or whatever it may be called next. Creationists like to distort words, phrases and ideas to try to prove their point. Some of them say atheism and evolution are religions. That is quite absurd. Obviously they redefine "science" and "religion" to suit their purposes. They try to turn Genesis creation myths into their distorted definition of science, so that such nonsense can be taught in science classes in schools. By the First Amendment, one creation myth cannot be favored above others. If the Hebrew one is taught (somewhere besides science classes), the creation myths of Sumeria, Egypt, Greece, Germany, China, etc.,etc.are entitled to equal time. Preachers fear that people will learn better than the stuff they spout, and they'll need to get honest jobs. Dr. Robert S. DeRopps noted that organized religion is the oldest con game. There is a long tradition of church leaders suppressing knowledge, so that people won't realize that religion is nonsense. You are so right about everything you say. A classic distortion of science is misapplying the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics to try to prove creation science. Another misunderstanding is that "evolution is just a theory". Here "theory" does not mean an unsupported hypothesis. Scientific theories are well-supported, eg. relativity, gravitation and evolution. Creationism is not even a theory, for there is no scientific support for it all. Anyone who says there is knows no science or is lying.

I dont think science can prove creation or evolution. All the bible do is give us a general view of creation it does not give us any detailed talk about creation. It does not tell us about molecules and so on. But I believe that the creation story of the bible and similar
Sumerian creation story are accurate. I am sure that science can confirm it.

The two...Science & Spirituality...are both separate, yet encompassing....

Science is based on the natural processes of Earth growing & becoming.

Spirituality is based on the natural processes of soul growing & becoming.

We have chosen Earth for this lifetime, solely for the gain of spirit...See the connect? One plus One is still One...
See diversity as creative productivity, rather than a separateness.

Now, as far as the Bible being from God...yes, just as all art & literature...just as the journal or diary you may keep, just as the Earth you know (because of science)....
All things work together in Creation...all are part of the Whole...all are perfect...take what rings true to you in any of it and simply leave the rest.

You can't prove Evolution from science either, that's why it's a THEORY. There is actually a great deal of scientific evidence to prove that at least certain parts of the bible are true, historic and factual. As far as creation itself, you can ask God yourself when you see Him...briefly.

Creationism can be proved by science, by philosophy, by religion, by meditation, by faith. Science is not a perfect criterion to prove truth.
Big Bang is not truth, it is a theory needed to be modified time and again.
The existence of the One True God is the truth far beyond the perception of the wisest mind. But this is clearer to humble human beings than black holes, and now dark energy, dark matter, and UFO's!

Science has not proved or disproved Creationism. What science does show is incredibly complex systems in the world around us that make it very hard to believe these systems came to exist out of random chance.

Science is limited to the physical. Your soul is eternal. The Bible deals with what is eternal where science cannot venture. The physical realm will pass away, and science will pass away with it. What you want to do is latch onto that which will last forever, and that is the Word of God.

Matthew 24:35
Jesus said, "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away."

If we limit ourself to just the physical limitations of time/space, you will have trouble in science. Since science cannot travel in time back to the beginning, it must come to conclusions based on evidence. It must then skew the evidence to fit its worldview. Science used math to conclude that there would be up to 12 feet of space dust on the moon. Scientists were amazed to find only 4 inches. They have since reasoned this away, but the fact remained that they were wrong. Science cannot explain a universe that is winding down. It has tried various ways to explain it away, but the big and small is that the universe had, at one point, a "winding up" period. Who or what wound it up is causing quite a bit of head scratching.

Can science prove creationism? In my opinion, yes, but only through a "back door" approach. It must first establish whether or not the Bible is the Word of God or not. This can be established by doing a comparative analysis of prophecy and fulfilled events. If the Bible contains hundreds of fulfilled prophecies, there is good evidence that it was written by Someone outside of the limitations of our physical time domain. Unfortunately, most scientists will come in with a jaundice view and will refuse to believe the evidence. If you do not believe in anything more than 4 dimensional planes of existence, then your science will only be limited to those four and you will venture no further.

You will find that my answer will be in the minority. But any dead fish can swim downstream.

Glad to see claypigeon back! :)
