You have to use twice as much water as rice and cook slow. It cooks better in a rice cooker. Also- DO NOT open the lid. Just cook 2 cups water to 1 cup brown rice and cook 25 min or so on med heat.
Enjoy!!!

You need to use the right pan. Use one with a heavy bottom that heats evenly. Rinse the rice. Use a bit of oil or butter and saute the rice for a few minutes as this improves the flavor. Add your water--about 2 cups for 1 of rice. You can use chicken broth for all or part of the rice. Bring the water to a boil and cover the pan. do not open during the cooking time as the steam is what cooks the rice. Turn down the heat so steam forms but so the water doesn't boil to rapidly as then it will be gone before your rice is cooked and can burn the rice. My pan has a glass top so I can watch it. Check the box/bag to learn how long to cook it. The real brown rice cooks in 40-50 minutes but some cook in less. This takes some practice and everyone has burned the rice so don't give up. It is a whole grain and good for you. Good Luck.

I think it's best in a steamer. It is more picky than white rice, but you can try it this way.
Wash 2 cups of brown rice in washing bowl with tap water.
Put brown rice in pressure cooker with 4 cups of drinking water.
Cook on high until it begins to steam (around 10 minutes).
Cook on high until the steam smells burnt (around 15 minutes).
Turn flame off and wait until safety mechanism allows it to be opened (around 30 minutes).
Serve.

If it's still hard when the water is gone...try adding some water little by little while it evaporates. The trick is not to add the water all together otherwise it stops cooking. It has to be slowly little by little and it will cook exactly how you want it.

a failproof method is by cooking it as you cook pasta.... once the seasoned water is at a boil (LOTS of water), throw it in and keep tasting it until you find the grain is cooked thru (estimating between 15-20 mins), then immediately drain.... with this method you dont have to worry about the ratio of rice to water as the water not used is discarded
