I am so po right know i am the loving mother of a 5 and 4 year old. I went to walmart to do my shopping and I found my best friends 6 year old alone in the toy department. I feel outraged that she is so nieve to think o nothing can happen to my children because it can and i fear some day it will. I have had this happen before so i went to find her and she was with her mom. I went off I said look what i found. I have no idea where your other kid is hes 11. But they could have been kidnapped. She seems to think walmart is a babysitter. and her mother feels the same way. I think she is so dumb. Kids get kidnapped all the time but she says o my kids no about strangers. What is your alls opinion. Is walmart a babysitter?Would you leave your six year old alone in a store. o she says her 11 year old was watchin her. I am one made kansas mother. I hope someone else is on my side.i will never leave my kids unsupervised in a store.

I own a pet store and parents drop off there kids all the time.
The youngest was 3 years old. I don't understand it. I would never leave my kids in a store alone. By the way, for those who don't know. A pet store is the #1 place in the country for a child to be kidnapped. We put a sign up stating that all chlidren under the age of 18 must be with a parent at all times.

I think that parents these days are just plain lazy. Why should I watch my kids when there are adults there. And hey for that matter why do parents use Cell Phones as a baby sitter. If you don't want to take care of your kids or be with them then you should have not had them.

I totally agree with you on this, one time when y'all are out together and the 6 year old is left unattended take her to the snack counter or McDonald's (most walmarts have something like this) And see how long she takes before noticing her daughter is "missing" if she had to go through the experience of actually having looking for a missing child then maybe she will wake up and smell the coffee. Although the child will be safe and sound with you the entire time. Mom will not know this and give her a well needed scare.

Hi, first of all this is just wrong. Your friend and the other person who answered you are people who probably need child services called on them.... Six years old is way too young to leave your side much less your eyesight in a store like that. If it were me I would probably do just that, I would call child services. That is neglect. Would she leave her child at home alone. This is just rediculous. I wouldn't let my son leave my side at wal-mart until just this year and he is only allowed to go one isle over. Anyhow you are right she could get kidnapped, people do it everyday. Let child services come get her kid at wal-mart and see how crazy she gets when she can't find her kid.
By the way Wal-Mart is not a red neck store. All kinds of people shop there. Matter of fact 2 years ago I was shopping and guess who was in line in front of me. By the way I live in Georgia. It was President Carter and his wife.

I couldnt imagine my kids being by them self that is crazy. I can't get over parents who take there kids to walmart at 1 am and I don't mean the infants that could care less we are talking about 5-10 year olds.

OK well i am not a mother by any standards but i would never leave my sister in walmart alone neither would my mother. she has a close eye on them all the time because of kidnappings and any other dangerous things in this world to day i would sit your friend down and show them all the stories on kidnappings and how it is so easy to know where they are one minuet and not the next. so any way i am on you side and my mother would be to.

I don't think people understand IT'S NOT ABOUT THE STORE! No you should never allow your 6 year old to be at the mall, park, Wal-Mart, etc. without supervision. Kids get kidnapped at all ages but at 6 they just do not have the knowledge or ability to protect themselves.

My kids are 9, 10, & 16 and they often walk around wal-mart away from me. I don't see where shopping has anything to do with babysitting. That store has more enployee's walking around out of uniform than they do in uniform. Mind your own business. Stop being so up tight. Raise your own children and let us raise ours.

Maybe she would not be your friend anymore if you talked to her face the way you talk behind her back.

and to the other chick, You would not know a redneck if he/she walked up and bit you on the ***.

Oh yes, I am on your side ---- toooooo many parents use Walmart, Little League, School, etc, etc as a free babysitter!! Enough already, take responsibility for your own kids before you have to bury them after they are kidnapped/killed. Too much of this crap is going on in this world. Love your kids enough to protect them or don't have any.

I understand where you are coming from. I feel the same way. My kids are 9 and almost 13 and I barely let them out of my sight at stores. I feel that parents that do what you mentioned should be charged with child endangering, put in jail, and the key thrown away.

Good lord, child, where the heck did you learn your grammar skills???? They are horrible! But anyway, no I wouldn't leave my kids alone in any store. When I was a kid my mom would let my brother and I go to the toy isle alone, but it was in a smaller store, like a drug store...and times were different back then. (I'm 25)
