There are a number of GPS devices such as LoJack that track vehicle movement to within 15 feet of where the car is. LoJack can only be activated by a Law Enforcement agency. What you want is a system similar to what truckers use to track their shipments. Also in my County all the County cars have this system that allows the motor pool to track the vehicles.
These can be very expensive. How about a GPS mobile phone? These can be tracked by parents. Why not put one in some hidden location in the car and then track it?

What you are looking for is a GPS tracking system. There are a few company's that make one. The one most trusted is from Directed Electronics. (they make viper car alarms) You can intergrade it with an alarm system or use by its self. Its the Python 210. Lo jack will only alert the police as to the location of the vehicle once you activate it. With the Python system you can have it detect unauthorized movement, battery disconnect (someone trying to remove your battery in order to disable any conventional alarm system) locate it on demand, and continuously track its movement. That's just a few features, there are a lot more options. Below I have pasted the link right to their website with all the information you need. Make sure you also spend some time with a car audio shop tat has installed this product before so they can help you use it and will warranty anything that goes wrong with the unit or install.

Do you mean a Global Positioning system? That's a device that can be located within a few meters by a satellite in space, and can be tracked on-line with the proper software. Hope this helps...
