Does anyone know where a factory amp would be located in a 1995 Dodge Neon?

A friend hooked a cd player up for me..but he forgot to disconnect some wire first. At first we thought the cd player wasn't working becuz it given to me by another friend...but when he tried to hook my old radio system back up it didn't work neither so he said my factory amp needed to be turned on. He couldn't find it so he is sending me to a friend of his to see. If he can't find it then I have to go to a professional.

The vehicle never came with an external factory amp. Its in the radio. If The factory plug is intact you should be using a wire harness. That will give you all the color codes. Both Metra and American International make plugs:
Metra #70-1817
American International # CWH-634
If you get one of those plugs or have one check the yellow wire. That one is constant power which has 12Volts all the time. Also check the red wire that one only has 12Volts once the ignition is turned on. Also make sure the radio is grounded properly. The factory radio had a braded metal strap that was attached to the back of it. You need to take the strap and either nut+bolt it to the back of your new radio or butt it together to the black wire of your new radio. Now if you have a problem with your power wire, you have a blown fuse somewhere ( I know you said you check but double check also look under the hood as well as under the dash )which means you replace it or you will have to run a new wire off the main harness (only need to do if there is a real problem like a melted wire ) Now if your friend has cut the factory harness below i have attached the color code to that car. If after all this information I have given dosent help, you will need to go to an experience car audio shop for further help. Good Luck...

Battery PINK (+) RADIO HARNESS
Accesory RED/WHITE (+) RADIO HARNESS
Ground STRAP
Illumination ORANGE (+) RADIO HARNESS
Dimmer BLACK/YELLOW (+) RADIO HARNESS
LF Speaker (+) DARK GREEN
LF Speaker (-) BROWN/RED
RF Speaker (+) VIOLET
RF Speaker (-) DARK BLUE/RED
LR Speaker (+) BROWN/YELLOW
LR Speaker (-) BROWN/LIGHT BLUE
RR Speaker (+) DARK BLUE/WHITE
RR Speaker (-) DARK BLUE/ORANGE

Have you checked the radio fuse? Only some cars that come with a premium sound system will have an external amplifier. It just sounds like you blew the radio fuse so look in the fuse box and check to see its okay or if it needs replacing.

Is it a Bose gadget, or Monsoon? the priority with bypassing the production unit amplifier is that many GM automobiles with production unit amps use audio gadget that are designed to artwork with the amp. Many Bose structures use 2-ohm or possibly a million-ohm audio gadget. Monsoon structures often use separate woofers and tweeters with dedicated amplifier channels; bypassing the amp means bypassing the equipped-in crossovers, which finally ends up in speaker harm. once you're changing the production unit audio gadget with after-industry, then bypassing the amp is clever. you're able to do this via working new speaker wires to each and each speaker, such as you mentioned. once you're making plans to maintain the inventory audio gadget, then you definately ought to objective to combine the inventory amplifier. this could be so straightforward as only finding the amp turn-on cord interior the production unit harness and connecting it to your new head unit's distant output cord. or you could ought to purchase a particular interface adapter to cord the recent head unit as much as the production unit amp's inputs.
