Hey Dragon Knight,
The church should always have an open door. In terms of what your seeking that you have to figure out. To say you want a new perspective but than to be closed about believing in anything the Bible says is kind of a catch-22 isn't it?
After all true churches- teach from the Bible.
If the experience is intimdating, i would suggest maybe attending a large bible based church- ie a Calvary Chapel and just go and listen and they also have counselors there that you can ask questions to- and figure it out for yourself.
If you're looking for new perspective i think you may have to realize that there is something about your current perspective that requires change.
Church instructs us and helps us walk in the ways of the Lord. But it's an open heart that ultimately determines whether we are receptive or not.
It's ok to be skeptical, but it's important also to be sincere...
i hope that helps...

If you're even considering joining a church when you don't believe in a God, means that you must be going through some rough times.
You may feel weak in a time like this and wonder if religion is the answer, but once you get out of this slump and are feeling better you'll come back to your senses.

How about instead of joining a church you check out what Jesus taught by reading the gospels in the bible for yourself? That will give you a new perspective on life for sure!
Or also, you could check out an alpha course - it is where Christians talk with non-Christians in a non-threatening environment of dinner, and a brief talk, and discussion - you might like it!

You are in search...as most people are. Some are not willing to admit it, though...
I'd visit a few before joining. There are many different views in the Christian denominations. (I prefer the non-denominational and a more modern / contemporary style of music. However, the message is going to be the same. God can and will change your life, if you are willing to have faith and you will allow him to be God).
You never know what you might learn!
Grace to you and God Bless! (Even though you don't believe, it doesn't change the fact that God still loves you!)

Join a church requires you to purge yourself of any individual and unique perspectives of your own and to adopt the church's perspective. Forever. I guess that in a way the church will give you a new perspective.

It will certainly give you a different perspective. Maybe better, maybe not. It depends a great deal on the church and what you expect out of it, and how much you contribute.

Without a profession of faith I know of no christian church that would grant membership. Unlike everything you hear here from the God haters a good christian church is more interested in the salvation of mankind than money.... Jim
