He woke me up last night and the whole bed was covered in his drool. It was just puddled around him. He is acting normally other than this. He eats drinks and plays all ok.

Okay, I am by far not an expert, but I've had 3 bassets in my life and my current one is Charlie. Charlie is not a drool-er, neither was my first basset Joe, but Chloe was. She was horrible. Basset Hounds are very well known for this and I've counted myself very lucky to have not gotten one that drools excessively all three times. We breed our bassets, so I've seen a lot of different bassets and in most cases, most of them drool a lot. I don't believe there is anything you can do about it, but you might ask your vet about some tips to help. The teething may be adding to the amount of drool, but most of it is probably just the way your dog is. Hope that helps.

Pretty normally to drool. I am not sure what excessive would be to you as I would have to see for myself. I can recommend a very well know man who has Championed over 75 dogs and specialize in bassets. His name is Mariano. You can call him at 269-628-5421. He is very knowledgeable about the breed and can and will give you as much help as he possibly has knowledge to help you with.

Hi, I understand that you are looking for some advice or resources to help fully train your dog or fix behavior problems. If a professional dog trainer is not an option at this time, or if you want to trt training your dog on your own (a great way to bond), I'd suggest you https://biturl.im/aULyf

A friend recommened it to me a few years ago, and I was amazed how quickly it worked, which is why I recommend it to others. The dog training academy also has as an excellent home training course.

well, one of my friends cat lost his two front teeth, so if ur dog might be missing any teeth that u don't know of that might be it. Or maybe it's a bad habbit, either way, you should check, and if no teeth are missing, and if the vet says he's okay, then teach him to stop, cause waking up in a puddle of drool, no affence, but is kinda gross. I know u luv ur dog no matter what, but if nothings wrong, teach him it's not right. * ^_^ *

I am afraid that that is normal for Basset's. First of all check with the vet to make sure everything is ok. (you may be able to do it without a visit, just a phone call.

I've heard dogs drool when they've been given human food. Make sure he doesn't get any when you aren't paying attention.

my dog did this a few times as a puppy also. He's probably just teething, I wouldn't worry unless it becomes a continous thing or you notice that he's otherwise acting abnormally.

He could be teething, but if this is something he started suddenly it might be something else. Wouldn't hurt to have the vet look at it.
