Prophecy has limited value because the fate of the world is in our hands. We decide moment to moment whether we will become an enlightened society where each single life is recognized as an equal part of divinity and gauranteed the same rights as everyone else. Where greed and hate and war are replaced by love and compassion for all living things, or whether we will spiral down the same messed up course we've been following.

Society should not be measured by the state of our technology and the toys we can create, but rather the state of evolution of our society should be judged by the quality of life experienced by the least fortunate among us. The only thing keeping us from realizing paradise on earth is our attitudes towards each other.

There is a pattern to Creation though, and we're approaching a shift in consciousness that can either be a rough ride or the realization of mankind's greatest dreams for itself..

The outcome will be determined by how you live your life each moment.

Just remember, no matter what happens to this physical environment, you are an eternal being and no real harm can come to you. Also remember that if you could see yourself the way God sees you, you would realize that you are loved more than you could ever possibly imagine.

People have been predicting the end of the world since the beginning of the world.

Here is a news flash for you - the world is going to end. In about 4 billion years when our sun goes supernova - I am pretty sure the world will end.

And as for the predictions becoming true - it works the same as TV psychics - I see a Bob from your past, or someone close to you passed away, or there was a tragedy in your past, or you breathed air recently. They are all generalizations that could be answered by any series of events.

For example: There will be a great war in the Middle East. Well, lets see... there has been war in the Middle East for more than 2000 years. Yep, he must be psychic.

Here is my great prediction. Ready for it??? One day the world will end... for you. You are not going to live forever.

we always knew that the world was going to end sometime. humans are thought to be the ony creatures who can fathom the idea of death or "an end". and it probably is going to end, common sense says that theres an end for everything, and just look at the way we treat the world, i'd be suprised if it lasts the next two generations.

In several billion years, the sun will expand and swallow the inner planets, including Earth.
Could get whacked by a big asteroid.
We could get hit by enough radiation from a dying star t wipe out all life.
The sun could throw off a killer flare and bake us.
Airport security levels could become so high, they kill everyone as a pre-emptive measure.

"Something is going to happen - something wonderful"

I just finished that book by Fr. Iannuzzi The Triumph of God's Kingdom in the Millennium and the End Times. It is interesting that he says that there is substantial support by the Fathers for a millennial era of peace, between Antichrist and the end of the world.

Desmond Birch in his book Trial Tribulation and Triumph argues that the end of the world is only a short time after Antichrist. Fr. Iannuzzi counters that this fails to consider that there are two manifestations of Antichrist indicated - the "Beast" of Rev 13, and Gog who will attack right at the end of time (Rev 20).

What I think is that Fr. Iannuzzi's work and Mr. Birch's work are two parts of a complete picture. Fr. Iannuzzi focuses on the millennial era of peace after Antichrist that lasts until the final attack of Satan in the person of Gog (Rev 20:7-9). What Mr. Birch focuses on is first the minor tribulation, an era of peace lasting 30 years under the Great Monarch and the Angelic Pastor, and then the major tribulation under Antichrist.

What I have argued is that both of these are right. There are simply too many prophecies supporting Mr. Birch's position to ignore, yet as Fr. Iannuzzi contends, the Fathers have talked about a millennial era of peace where everything returns to a virtual paradise.

The sequence would run: minor tribulation, generation long era of peace, major tribulation under Antichrist, millennial era of peace (near paradise), the final attack of Gog and Magog, then the return of Christ in body and glory to judge the living and the dead.

Scripture supports this sequence. The thousand year reign talked about in Rev 20 has been interpreted as the millennial era of peace. If we look at Rev Herman Bernard Kramer's book The Book of Destiny he interprets the Book of Revelation in it. He interprets Chapter 9:12-19 - the sixth trumpet - as what we are living in now (in 1955, when he wrote the book, he said we were just entering it). It could be considered the triumph of modernism and secularism over the truth, which we are seeing today, which will culminate in physical destruction of much of society. Chapter 11-19 of Revelation focus's on Antichrist proper. Now upon examining Scripture, we can see that this is a distinct moment from the sixth trumpet.

In chapter 10 of Revelation, we can see a definite lull or break between the two. This indicates the generation of peace between the minor and major tribulations. The mighty angel indicated could simultaneously represent St. Michael and the Great Monarch. The rainbow could be an indication of peace and the face shining like the sun could be the light of God's truth shining on society and the Church. Rev Kramer says that the seven thunders is a great ecumenical council (the greatest of all time, up until then). Many prophecies have indicated a great council under the Great Monarch and the Angelic Pastor. The scroll which the seer ate, which was sweet in his mouth but sour in his stomach, would indicate that the Church is now consoled and triumphant, but the worst is yet to come.

All in all, what is indicated are three full apocalypses - the minor tribulation of the New World Order (which we are now entering into), the Major Tribulation of Antichrist, and the Tribulation of Gog right at the end of the world.

This is very logical. When we read the book of Revelation, it is God using a complex form of algorithm (like a computer program) to eliminate evil and bring about the consummation of the universe. It is done in an extremely complex, step by step fashion. Each step has to be done the way it is for a specific reason, and every step has to follow every other step in a precise sequence. The whole thing has a profound inner logic that only omniscience and omnipotence can execute properly.

The purification of the Church and the world would follow the outline of the purification of the soul which God brings to union with Him. The two are analogous. St. John of the Cross in his Dark Night of the Soul says that the soul goes through first (after the first conversion) the "dark night of the sense." This corrects basic habits and gives the soul basic virtue. Similarly, the minor tribulation would correct the "habits" of society and the Church (such as law, politics, culture, philosophy, theology, education, etc.). Following the dark night of the sense, the soul experiences a period of peace, known as illumination. This is analogous to the era of peace under the Great Monarch. However, if the soul goes far enough it then encounters the "dark night of the spirit," which is much worse than the night of the sense. This is analogous to the major tribulation of Antichrist. This dark night of the spirit purifies the deep stains of the soul. This tribulation purifies the deepest stains of society and the Church. After the dark night of the spirit the soul is in a state of union, where it is largely perfected and conformed to God. After the tribulation of Antichrist is the era of the divine will, where society and the Church are largely conformed to God. The final attack of Gog is analogous to the last agonies of death. The general judgment and entry into the eternal New Heavens and Earth is like the particular judgment of the soul and the soul's entry into heaven.

This sequence is logical. A period of illumination is required for the soul, after the first purification, to give is the strength to endure the second. The period of peace, under the Great Monarch, is given so that the Church has the strength to endure Antichrist.
