Is there any way to get someone to open up?

Question

If someone you know is a closed-off type of person and doesn't express their feelings is there any way to get them to open up and show affection?..Seriously no smart a** remarks please

It takes time but the way I do it I do it with affection. By words, by touch- I would give them a hug, slightly touch their hand. Also smile a lot, show kindness. Even if they don't respond if you're persistent they will give in. No one doesn't like affection- even if they show resistance they will eventually give in.

This always works for me. Warning though- I could get away with the touching and stuff b/c I'm a woman and we're supposed to be the emotional creature so I think it's more acceptable to physically touch other people as long as it's done appropriately. The thing is if you were a man, I don't think you could get away doing so- they might think you're coming on or molesting even if you're not! So don't take my advice if you're a man!

Trial and error.

Most of the suggestions other's here gave are good ... but since each person is unique ... well, this is just part of learning to communicate with different types of people.

To communicate you talk and listen (EQUALLY). You can talk with words, body language, and touching. Listening also involves you recognize what they person is telling you through their words, body language, and touching.

Body language biggies are eye contact (lack of eye contact), hand positioning/ movement, feet movement. Often people feel most comfortable when you DISCREATLY mirror them. So, when you're talking to this person and they have their arms folded, fold your arms too ... if they don't want to maintain eye contact ... don't force it. When you do this, you'll get a better feeling as to how their feelling about the situation. Don't use this to put words to the movements ... just use it to make them feel comfortable, and to get a better understanding yourself.

I learned that the best way to get someone to open up about how they feel is to take time with them and open up to them i mean they might be a little uncomfortable at first but as they get more comfortable with you it will become natural for them to just open up and talk to you about anything i mean there is no real way to force them to just let them know that you will be there for them and are always willing to listen.

the best way to accomplish this is to be you around them and to let them be themselves around you. they may just be a quiet and reserved laid-back person at certain times, or may not even fell as though they should show affection for whatever reason. But if you care about them, you will take them for them and they will begin to trust you--eventually coming out of their shell. Good luck beautifulz! :-D

Um, well... is it your crush or are you guys bf-gf... cuz it depends on the situation... if your not together, just keep talking to them and eventually, they might open up. but if your in a relationship, just tell them what you told us

ask-em how they are doing create feeling of ease to make them calm ,be friendly don't startle them (trust is most important)

i noe wat ur saying i hv the same problem... i guess talking to them n spending time with them could help...communication is the key... dont stop talking cuz u'll end up ignoring eachother.... maybe u should try telling them how u feel cuz they might be scared of making the first move...
just be urself...n be honest with them n urself...
