his public defender is saying that he most likely get 9-16 months and he has already served 6 and has yet to be arraigned. he has no prior record and the robbery was unarmed. he supposedly got away with 7 grand. i was just wondering how realistic is it for him to get 9-16 months considering this crime? it seems like too much of a lenient sentence for a crime like this. please answer if u have knowledge of the law and please serious answers only!

Armed robbery would usually carry a minimum 5 year sentence, depending on the state you live in. Unarmed robbery not so much. But you're right; Less than a year and a half for that does seem lenient, like a slap on the wrist.

Perhaps jail overcrowding is being considered as well.

In any event, your friend is getting off lucky. If he turns out to be a repeat offender, he'll really do some time.

If your friend did not show a weapon, and only handed over a note, and has no previous record, then yeah, that sentence sounds about right. The part about him serving 6 months, and yet to be arranged does not. They have to arraign and charge him, and 6 months is WAY to long to do that. Something is wrong there.

Wyndhawk, does that 6 month arraignment make any sense to you?

Birds of a feather flock together .. Maybe you should worry about yourself now and stop hanging and doing the crap that you do. If you're so concerned about your boyfriend, then got to jail with him and be each others lovers. At least Bubba won't get him .. or you. I think ....
