Bicycle does more than just legs. Running causes me shin splints and ankle problems and running shoes cost as much as a cheep bicycle. I don't reccoment a cheep bike get a good one and have it properly adjusted to fit just you. Mark the seat post and handle bar settings so you can always adjust it back if you let someone else ride.

Biking definitely, Both are fine, But running adds a lot of pressure on the knees. Biking distributes the exercise through out the body and is more fun.

Both will. Biking should be more because you're bending your knee more, and therefore activating more muscle. Of course, this assumes that you actually pedal and not coast most of the way. Your knee absorbs a lot of the impact in running so most is not transferred to the muscle as an isometric contraction.

Running really tones your legs, biking builds legs muscles and you can really build endurance for running by doing indoor biking classes.

biking is good for strengthening/endurance
running is good for building endurance/toning
observe someone running, observe someone bicycling & you'll understand why. or better yet, try both & see how your legs feel after each

I'd stick with biking, just because it's low impact. Running is great in theory, but murder on your knees.
