After reading some questions and answers, I got the idea some people think "Happy Holidays" is supposed to REPLACE talking about Christmas. However, the reason people feel one should say "Happy Holidays" is to incorporate all religions and celebrations of the same season into one greeting so as not to be saying Christmas when someone is actually celebrating Kwanza, not to try to take religion out of holidays or something. There's more going on than just Christmas, plus it covers New Years which most people celebrate in addition to a religious holiday (or secular Christmas). Understanding that, does it still bother you that "Happy Holidays" is more widely promoted?
[As for Christmas Trees vs. Holiday Trees, is the decorated tree a major symbol for any religion other than Christian and secular Christmas? If not, there's no need for the switch to "Holiday Trees". I'm just not aware of any other use of the symbol (and know it started with pagans), so let me know if I'm wrong here.]

I think some people are still missing the point. There is more than just one holiday going on. It's not all about Christians. It's just respecting more than one holiday.
And Jews don't send Happy Hannukah cards to non-Jews. If they were sending a card to a non-Jew, they would send a Happy Holidays card or a card celebrating the religion of their recipient.

I think that "Happy Holidays" is just fine if you are uncertain of another persons religeous preferences.
What is wrong with having a little respect?

Either way you go the whole thing is a pagan holiday.
What does the Christmas tree have to do with Jesus birthday.
By the way he wasn't born on Dec 25. That was a day already celebrated by the sun god. The ever green was all they seen left geen. Put the stars and sun on it and had an orgy. A few months later see it worked summer again.
Santa Claus is a lie. Raindeers is a lie. Why do you celebrate it at all. People gives people stuff they want and they other person doesn't. The whole thing is a big lieing fake.

I prefer the phrase "Happy holidays" because it seems more polite. But I am not offended when people tell me to have a Merry Christmas even though I don't celebrate Christmas. I would prefer "Happy Holidays" but it's the thoughts and good wishes that count the most.
The Druids used oak, ash, and hawthorn in their rites (they also used mistletoe), but I cannot think of any instances where they used an evergreen tree. At least I don't think that I have any academic references of this--especially during the time of the winter solstice. There may be evidence for it, but I don't know where it is. Perhaps the Romans or Norse did.

I agree that Happy Holidays is meant to wish good tidings to all faiths.
As for Holiday Trees. Wiccans and Neo Pagans celebrate Yule, the origin of the Christmas tree was the Yule tree. Along with many other widely used Christmas traditions. I think for that reason they should be reguarded as Holiday Trees.

But for example jews or whoever don't say 'happy holidays' on their cards- it's only Christmas that is being degraded by saying this. In muslim-ruled countries, you can bet they're not saying "happy holidays" instead of whatever they're celebrating.
also I think its very hypocritical for people to celebrate Christmas and Easter without actually being Christians

because of the fact the Bible Thumpers are fake effect the placement. Walmart substitute into on the middle of this debate a pair years back while they began requiring THEIR workers to declare 'Hppy trip journeys' insterad of 'Merry Christmas'. that is extremely not the travesty that persons made it out to be. in fact there are greater trip journeys than in basic terms Christmas. in fact a random cashier does no longer comprehend which trip a random client celebrates. So it extremely is surely lifelike, interior the spirit of accpetance, to easily say happy trip journeys. it extremely is a capture-all that broadcasts 'despite the fact that trip you migth have fun, i'm hoping you appreciate it.' that is not anti-Christmas. that is not anti-Christian. that's the thank you to renowned that i might desire to have self belief distinctive from you without having right into a brilliant communicate.

I understand but I do not agree nor participate. Understand I would not send a Christmas card to anyone who did not celebrate it. I send Happy Hanukkah cards to Jewish friends and such to others regarding their beliefs. I will not however attempt to alter my faith or practice of it to avoid upsetting others. We are adults and I do not expect others to hide or change their beliefs or celebrations either.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! December 25th is a religious holiday honering the Birth of JESUS CHRIST> why would anyone to try to "cover up" the meaning of christmas> No one is forcing anyone to worship Jesus, but the least non-christians could do is RESPECT the beliefs of Christian America. over 97% celebrate christmas during the winter holidays< over whelming majority (kwanza, etc.)

Happy Holiday's is to not "offend" anyone. You wouldn't want to exclude anyone...hurt their feelings. Bah Humbug!
It's Merry Christmas and they are Christmas trees!
I won't buy a Holiday tree from anywhere...but I'll cut down or buy my own Christmas tree :o)
